ALERT! 2.2 FroYo Circus continues...FRG01B is Official get it here.

I use wireless tether with my ipad all the time, but each time I connect, I have to go into the wifi settings on the ipad and click on the arrow showing the wireless tether connection and then click on renew lease and that fixes it. Not sure why, but I have to do it everytime or it will not function.

Good luck

I cant even get to that because Ive never been connected to that network so I cant hit renew.

Something must have gotten messed up when I installed 2.2. I did a manual install from a file that someone named Jrummy posted. It seemed to indicate if you were rooted you could use that without problem. I really dont even know if updating breaks root or what. Do I need to re-root? Or would barnacle or wifi tethering even run at all if my phone wasnt rooted? Im thinking now.

Possibly something got messed up. Not likely if this is the only problem. If you used JRummy's rooted ROM then it didn't break the root. You probably don't need to re-root, but if the stock ROM isn't doing it for you, try putting another one on. No, they would not run if you weren't rooted. Here's a simple test. Got a terminal emulator? If not, get one from the market, open it, and type su. If you get a # prompt you're golden.

The app you installed from the Google code repository has a LOT of features. Try playing with them for a bit and see if you can get it to work that way. If not, try cruising the forum over in the hacking help section to see if anyone has had a similar problem and if there's a resolution. :)

*sigh* Still waiting for OTA. I saw that neilrl79 in Cecil County, MD got his. I'm in Baltimore County and at first, I was thinking the rollout was regionally based. Maybe it is, and this is a sign that my local servers are rolling out!

Appreciate you trying to help. Yep, I had terminal emulator. Just did the su and got #. IDK what has happened. I'll get it figured out at some point.

Great thing I didn't root my phone... it broke today. Screen is ka-put, all black and it won't do anything. And Verizon won't let me replace it since my mother's name is on the account. I ended up breaking down in the store because a. my parents are in Ohio and b. they're heading through major storms on a motorcycle. And they still didn't help me.

what jerks.

Contact Verizon directly and report the store. Tell them your mother's phone is broken and she's currently out of contact and when you went to X store to get it serviced they refused to help out. At the very least someone at the store will get a service complaint notice, at the very best they'll tell you to either go back to store X or store Y to get a replacement phone. It's worth the ten minutes of your time to try. :)

GOOD LUCK!

Thank god both of them are going to be back tomorrow, so we may go down and try again. Running off 3 hours sleep did not help me at all today.
And the man was following their policy, unfortunately for me. There really isn't much that I can do.

However, while we're in there tomorrow, I'm going to harass them about Froyo until they can push my update. :D

OTA received here this morning (Detroit suburbs).

Thing is, I'm rooted and have Bugless Beast 0.4 installed, along with a different kernel. The nag screen for the update keeps popping up, and there's no way to get rid of it that I can see. I am also thinking of trying Chevy's ROM and kernels, just because I can. :D

But in the meantime, is there any way to disable the nag screen? It seems to pop up every couple of minutes, which is getting annoying. I don't suppose I could apply this OTA update and expect things to work properly.

And I'm also thinking BB and Chevy's (and even Cyanogenmod) may update their ROMs now that the official Froyo is out of its cage. I'm more an I.T. guy than a phone guy, so bear with me... ;)

looking for 2.1 update.zip to put on stock droid no root manually

i think verizon stopped the update for 2.2. i have looked around and i cant find a link for the 2.1 update.zip file that is used to manually update the phone. can someone please post a valid link

This is a known issue with BB. CyanogenMOD 6 RC-3 just hit (like, half an hour ago) for the Droid, so if you want to try it, now's a good time to try it.

If you want to keep BB, you need to tell it to install, reboot, and then allow SPRecovery or ClockworkMOD Recovery block the install. You may have to enter recovery manually to do so. I trust you're comfortable with that and know how to install without allowing an install of an update.zip.

I received the OTA yesterday morning and I let it continue but it failed.
My phone was 2.1, rooted, P3 OC kernal, clockwork recovery.

So I d'led Jrummys file on page 6. Wiped cache 2 or 3 times, reformated everything that wasn't on the sd card and applied the file. It did not replace the recovery console

It went flawlessly and I now have rooted 2.2 and I added a 1200 mhz OC kernal. So far it's blazing fast and stable.

if we have the 2.1 update (even if we have 2.2 installed on our phones) can we just install the update.zip file to go back to 2.1? if not, how can we just go back to the stock 2.1 ROM?

P.S. I have the update.zip file but i have to locate it. its somewhere on my hard drive. I'll post when i find it
