This is only about the Droids sold in the U.S. on Verizon. That is not 1.5 million.

I hope this does not get deleted, as it it sort of pertains to root, but a couple of things seem to me to be getting lost in the "this sucks compared to...". As much as folks want to complain about what is and is not included, you have to keep in mind that soon everyone will be on 2.1. Not just us droiders, but Nexus, etc.

This plays heavily into the market, as now developers will have to get with the 2.1 platform, across the boards. And this dovetails into the fact that while we want VZW/Moto to give us everything, the intent of Android from day one is to let the market handle a lot of it. An example is the number of home screens. There are a handfull of ways to get many homescreens, beyond 3. And I think the baseband upgrade is very underappreciated. Much as VZW responded quickly back when the droid was new to fix the camera oops, the baseband fix means that VZW is trying to address the heart of the phone, calls and 3g. They sure as heck can't provide everyone a new phone, but tweaks on the software and likley at the tower level mean they are trying to make things better.

So while I am a happy rooter, I have been watching the 2.1 update unfold with great enthusiasm. Cheering the process on, because in the bigger picture, this is indeed great news for all of us.

My wife got hers today. I did not get to mess with it and she only had limited time with it also but her initial impression is that it seems to be noticeabely snappier but she seems to be having some glitches....widgets not loading force closes etc. Obviously she did not do a factory reset because the average user would not do that......if her problems persist ill have to screw with it. Maybe it doesn't like some of her apps or her home replacement etc....etc......I'm waiting patiently for droid mod to get me an update!

It's probably the home replacement causing those issues and not 2.1.

It's probably the home replacement causing those issues and not 2.1.

Did I miss something...is it reccomneded that we unistal home replacements and or do a factory reset at some point?

Why leave out the additional screens and the 3D app drawer?

I would like to see how many of you are as ticked as I am about Verizon, Google, or Motorola leaving out the additional screens and the 3D app drawer.

First of all WHY should they be Nexus exclusive? I have a feeling this has to to with Verizon, but I have no proof. I like the live wallpaper and the drawer app would have been cool, but I expected additional screens regardless. Wow what a disappointment. I love my droid :motdroidvert: , but it could be so much better.



GOOGLE I THOUGHT ANDROID WAS OPEN! Why are you caving into manufactures and providers, stand your ground we have your back. We buy your stuff because we hate your competition. Thanks for letting me vent.

Not yet. But I can't download any apps right now from the market. Wonder if they stop that process to push the update??

I manually installed the update, works exactly as it should. ... the only drawback, and A HUGE one for me (that I unfortunately didn't consider beforehand) is NO WIFI tether :-(. How can I revert back to 2.0.1 and redo B.B? Please help.
