Android 2.1 Update Rolls Out For Motorola Droid!

I have to say at first my initial reaction to the update was negative but I am changing my stance. I am really impressed actually. Call quality is much better. Voice to text seems to work perfectly. Battery life is much improved. They nailed the little things with this update. Look forward to future updates.

This might seem a dumb question but if they are selecting phones at random to receive the update what happens if they select someone who has already done the manual update? Will it realize that phone is up to date and roll to the next person on the list or does that person count as one of that batches 200,000? i hope it skips over cause the average person who is not into updates and stuff have a better chance if we don't count when we already updated.

I am assuming that nothing will happen if you have the update and, yes, probaby wil count as one of the 200k...

I did the update and love it. Gallery is my one exception. Starts to look beautiful and crashes.

Excuse the noob question, but If I'm rooted and have the latest bugless beast installed is there any reason to unroot and get this update?

I would say yes. Get the new update just to have the new software and then in like no time there will be stuff to root your 2.1 which is even better.

I havent gotten mine yet, but in no rush now that i know its rolling out. I also got the file so..wheneva.

It is pretty easy to manually update. I'd go for it.

Just saw this from VZW Support on Twitter:

No The 2.1 update is not out yet from vzw for the droids. and yes if you get the 2.1 update& it corrupts the phone yes the warrnty voided 18 minutes ago via web

I would say NO. been there done that and I'm back to Smoked glass 6.0.1 and happy now.

Every time I look at that page I crack up, because the woman on the right side looks genuinely confused.
