Android 2.1 Update Rolls Out For Motorola Droid!

i still have not recived the update yet

Bro do the MANUALLY update. Just download the file from GOOGLES website. I did it yesterday and its running perfect.

I agree. If you REALLY cannot wait just do the manual install.

It's like dying of thirst and instead of waiting for the waitress to bring you a glass of water you get up and get it yourself : )

Cereal I love the way you described it with the water LOL..... Yeah it's awesome I'm rocking it as of yesterday at 1pm and LOVING it! :icon_ banana:

I am new to this forum and upgrading. Will installing this update.zip stop me from getting future updates? Does my phone need to be rooted inorder to do this update manually? Is the update file a beta or test version that was leaked and is it different from the Verizon file.

Thanks in advance

No.

No.

It's the EXACT same update being pushed out.

I just have to say, I performed the manual 2.1 update last night and it went as smoothly as most have described.

However, I'm a little disappointed, because a few people expressed concern about the update bricking their phone.
Well, it did NOT brick my phone and like I said, I'm disappointed because I kinda wanted it to update my phone from being
a Motorola Droid into a Motorola Brick! ...because I'm old school like that. :P

:icon_ banana: w00t! In all seriousness, I'm loving the 2.1 update. :)

I have a stupid question, what if I install the 2.1 update manually will this void my warranty? And if I do install it manually is their a way Verizon will know i did it manually if i have to send my phone in one day will they know Idid it manually?

double check the filename on your sd card. It has to be renamed to update.zip

If it's named anything else it wont work. And if you're renaming on a windows machine with file extensions hidden just name it "update" and windows will add the .zip on it's own.

Browser

I manually updated to the new version last night. I keep reading that this version is supposed to include pinch to zoom for the browser. I cannot get the pinch zoom functionality to work in the browser. I didn't have much time to play with it, but I tried it on ESPN.com and CBSSPORTS.com.

The pinch zoom does work in the gallery and on Google Earth. Haven't tried it with Google Maps yet.

Is anyone else having problems with the pinch to zoom in the browser?
