Android 2.1 Update Rolls Out For Motorola Droid!

I updated to 2.1 myself but I cannot figure out how to do speech to text. Please help.

Touch the text box where you want to enter text. On the onscreen keyboard, to the left of the space bar (where , used to be) is a microphone icon key. Press that, and you will be prompted to speak the text you want.

I just tried it. I made a note to myself to buy beer; unfortunately, it came out as a reminder about "spy gear". I'd rather have the comma, I use it a lot and it's a bit of a nuisance to have to go to the numeric page for it.

Luckily I will remember to buy the beer anyway. :) :pint:

Can someone who has updated to ESE81 give me their full kernel version from settings > about phone?

Thanks.

Great job on the link and manual update instructions. Worked perfectly once I figured I was pressing volume down instead of up lol. The live wallpaper is pretty cool, text to speech is awesome, and the pinch zoom is cool although I still use the double tap unless teh website is completely nonphone friendly. The gallery looks sweet, but I still don't understand why it doesn't show the details. I have like 8 movies on my phone and have to click on at least 2 or 3 details before it opens the right one. I can use astro, but the new gallery is just so cool looking.

I'm noticing something with the live wallpapers. As I use them more; things are becoming smoother. Like with the grass livewallpaper it used to be laggy and slow, now its smooth and fast. Just my experiences :D

When I go to load the update I keep getting this message....

E:Can’t open/cache/recovery/command
–Install from sdcard…
Finding update package…
Opening update package..
Verifying update package…
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted

anyone I'm getting frustrated here....

did you name it update.zip or just update, im using windows 7 and for me i just named it update

that means the update.zip on your sd card has 2 .zips instead of one. You may only see one .zip because your comp might pf been set to hide file extensions. Are you running win7?
