Android 2.1 Update Rolls Out For Motorola Droid!

Sometimes when I see people asking about Flash I think they either think that :

1) It will make them as fast as The Flash and they will be able to run very fast.

or

2) It will speed up the Droid.

Lol flash is awesome since it would most likely allow us to view videos from sites other than youtube(ok i knw ur kidding) honestly i wouldnt expect it to be without problems when it first launches. Frankly i think some site will probably have some lagginess in their videos from the phone browser, but thats just me being a bit skeptical.

i'm confused. i got the update, and i see the live wall papers, pinch zoom, and "3d gallery" but there's a few things i thought i read were changing. i thought the app drawer was changing to a different look, and i thought we were getting more than 3 home screens. did i just read wrong somewhere?

is there anything else that i'm missing about this new update?

There was some expectation created because the Nexus One has the 3D app drawer and five home screens, but these features were never officially promised for the Droid (at least AFAIK).

MODS are always ahead of the curve with features. DroidMod, Cyanogen, Bugless Beast to name a few. If you want features MOD !

Talk to text works for smiley faces as well when texting :icon_ banana:

"smiley face" and "sad face" are what I have found so far... anyone else find out others?

woke up this morning and saw that the OTA update was available. obviously immediately installed it.

i've been playing with the settings and browser all morning.....basically new wallpapers, multitouch, google goggles, news/weather app, and 3D photo gallery. all fantastic stuff. the main menu has not changed though, and neither has the the number of home screens.

one negative thing i noticed that i think we all expected...my battery life is definitely taking a hit. im not sure if its the live updates from the weather/news widget or the live wallpapers...probably both. both are cool features but i dont think ill be running both in the future....it brings my avg battery life of 15-20 hours down to about 10 (i unplugged this morn at 8am, now down to 30% after about 7 hours). nevertheless...i havent seen much of a dip in performance as some ppl have reported. overall still pretty happy with the update. :icon_ banana:
