Android 2.1 Update Rolls Out For Motorola Droid!

still havent got it. will it just show up saying i can download it on my phone?

You can go to androidcentral dot com, search on "manually update droid 2.1" and the second link will be the instructions and even a how to video about how to do the manual update. I did this last week and my droid is working great with the 2.1 update. Good luck.

Am I got to get the notification if I rooted to 2.0.1?

Mark... I think what you might mean is you used RSDLite or ar thinking about it?

RSDLite is not rooting. Its basically back to stock unrooted/unbricked.

If this is the case, you will get the notification, and you can disable it.

Believe it or not - I'm still waiting. I've had the phone for 20 days so far, but Verizon tells me it's "automatic" and I'll just have to wait.

Another 9 1/2 days of support like this - and it's "back to the shop with you." Verizon support is usually pretty good, but.... One of a few key issues I have with the phone.

Don't get discouraged, cagey444, there's really no ryhme or reason to the way they're rolling this out. Some folks who've had their Droids since November didn't get it right away either. You'll get it, 9 days is nothing compared to six months of waiting. :D

I never got a notification... Somebody here mentioned that they simply looked for and found a system update on the phone "system updates" option. So I looked and sure enough,... there it was. Who knows how long it had been there. For all you people still waiting for a notification,.... check your menu, about phone, then system updates.... ???? maybe......????

Yes, I have been checking the phone updates. Nothin' as yet. (shows system as "up to date." Oddly, when I go to "settings/about phone" it shows firmware version as "2.1 update1." That can't possibly mean that 2.1 is already loaded - since when I bought the phone, it was 2.0.

Also, yes I have mapped out yahoo mail (IMAP), but it's not synced (as Outlook mail is). (No automatic notification or in-line editing features, etc.) Even with Outlook mail, I'm using touchdown so I'm hoping that 2.1 will provide a similar interface to Yahoo mail.

There's still some cut and paste issues with both mail platforms, but I'm learning to deal with them. :icon_eek:

Thanks for suggestions though. Appreciated.

that should mean you have it! find a empty homescreen spot and loong press...hit wallpapers..do you see live wallpapers?

Thanks for the pep talk... I'm really dying for 2.1 so that I can sync my yahoo mail!

Dude do what i DID, i got it the day before it started rolling out by going to googles website and forcing the update. It's exactly the same as the automatic one. Same version same everything and it has been confirmed. Plus it's right of of GOOGLES WEBSITE. I believe that link is somewhere around thread 60-80.

I'm sure someone on here knows the link.
