Android 2.1 Update Rolls Out For Motorola Droid!

Just spitballing here...

I created a new folder in Astro root (/sdcard). I copy and pasted the different files from the download into that file (which I named "update"). Then I restarted.

Nothing. Still @ 2.01.

You DO NOT make a folder. You do not open update.zip and copy and paste the files within anywhere.

Place the actual "update.zip" file IN /sdcard.

That's it.

Then boot into recovery per instructions and try to update.

Ima gonna wait. Knowing me something would go wrong with the update.zip method SOMEWHERE and then verizon would tell me to get stuffed. I'll wait and if THEIR update kills it then they can deal with it. I've used the phone with 2.0.1 since I got it in December, isn't going to kill me to wait this much longer

The update file IS their update file. No difference whether you get it thu OTA, or you push it thru recovery.

You can wait, or get it now, no worries either way.

Any idea how they are deciding who gets it when? Not a big techno guy so like others have said "I don't want a Droid paper weight"

After all the wait, I find myself fairly unimpressed with the update. It makes me think it won't be too long before we see a 2.1update 2. Who knows though.

QUESTION!!! When you add a new folder to a home screen, can't you rename the folder???? i want to put all my game icons in a folder called "games"... can i do this or do i have to live with the name of the folder being "folder"???
If you download apps organizer from the market you can put all your games into a game icon instead of a folder. It looks better on the home screen.

When you click on the folder, it will open with the contents inside, at the top it will say folder, longpress that and it gives you the option to change the name.

I unrooted, force updated, nad now I want UltimateDroid back, time to start hacking. This update is an uber dissapointment. Well, I am a linux dev, so I guess its time to write my own custom kernel and rom for ese81.

Has someone started a thread with the .zip so you can grab it and then read all these replies?:)

Maybe someone will make a youtube video showing how to dl this zip.

Do not use this file!

ever since I installed it I have been getting an error message, javaxnet.net.ssl.Exception:hostname in certificate does not match.

I am unable to run market place updates now.

be warned!

First I have heard of this issue, are you sure you did everything correctly?
