Another Bionic that can't get a data connection... no 4G/3G/1X signal.. only wifi...

The Rezound battery life is not as good as the Bionic but I am mostly in 4G/LTE now where my Bionic was mostly in 3G or no data at all. I bought the extended battery and it lasts me all day. The phone is thicker too but I don't mind that. I don't want a thin phone. I want a phone that works. The Rezound actually works like it should. I am still getting used to it so I can't comment yet on every feature but the 720p screen is nice. Yes the Bionic screen is brighter outside but again, the Bionic is buggy and not 720p. Starting to love my Rezound!

Kinda like I figured the battery life aint gonna be a deal breaker for me. I got the extended battery for my Bionic and its thicker than my stock Thunderbolt. I dont mind a thick phone either. My Thunderbolt works good but if the Rezound is a little faster which I here it is that what it is all about fo me. The faster the better 1.5 gh out the box sounds good with a good kernel you could get to 2gh easy.

I'm also having the intermittent data connection issue. I have 4G here in Virginia Beach but it drops the data connection to nothing. I'm thinking it's pointless to exchange the phones because a coworker that has an LG phone is also having the intermittent which leads me to think Verizon is having a system problem. I've had the phone for 1 week and the first thing it did was want to update to 5.5.893. Since it was new and I had nothing to lose, I updated and was able to root with no problem.

What I'm looking for is information for the new update. About 4:45pm the phone "droided" me with a v 5.9.901.en.US update. I have reservations since the phone is working pretty good, rooted and all other than the dropping of the data connection. Right now I'm postponing the update until I can research what's up.

Thanks for info. I thought starting a new thread might drum up more info on this update. Still haven't found any info what this addresses.

Not sure if anyone posted this yet, but this is why we're all having issues for the phone we want(ed) on the network we (don't) deserve.

This Is Why Your Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Or Other 4G LTE VZW Phone) Is Losing Its Data Connection

Saw that a couple hrs ago if its true it is still no excuse. The phones still dont work. I had an idea it might be something like that though didnt make sense that Verizon started screwing with the towers just before thew OTA and that is why it took so long

With issues across every new 4g device, it makes since that it is something in the network, or in the design of the hardware/software connecting to the network. My Bionic has been flawless after hiccups the first couple of weeks that I have had it. I have not gotten any update, and I don't think I want one. While much fewer are posting flawless connections than those posting with issues (may just be human nature to only complain when there is an issue), VZW should be studying those devices with no connection issues to find a solution. I don't want to be the NEXT person that cannot connect.

How long ago did you do OTA? It seems like it takes awhile to settle in a day or two my phone ran like crap 1st couple days now its running perfect. I am keeping my fingers crossed though it has donbe that before. Good luck

Are you in a 4g area or do you travel jb and out of one?

I'm in Knoxville, TN and we don't have 4G right now either. It is frustrating, but hopefully Verizon is prepping the network for Christmas day.

Some bionics are affected and some are not in the same area. Im in Jacksonville, fl and there are two bionics in my office. For one, the data drops and has absolutley no 4G since yesterday. The other bionic has 4G and works great. Two of the exact same phones with the same 5.5.893 System Verion, 3 feet away from eachother. The only difference between the two is one has an extended battery and the other one has the stock battery but this shouldnt make a difference. Not sure what the pattern is of phones that are not working and what would keep one from having 4G access. I tried power cycling, reseting the sim card connection, turning off and on airport mode, etc. Nothing works. I even tried checking for updates and nothing is available. I would like to think that Verizon is working on their towers but cant be true in this case otherwise niether phones would have 4G.

As this is a cluster of information, I hope it helps for some that are reading.

I am in the Los Angeles area right now and have no 4g and only intermittent 3g network access. My connectivity problems began last night at around 11pm Pacific Standard Time. I'm sort of glad to hear that it's Verizon network problems and not my phone. I hope they get it fixed soon. This is a BIGGIE!!!

UPDATE...
It is now about 1 hour since my last post and my 4G is back (16.5Mbs down and 10.6Mbs up)! I am keeping my fingers crossed that things will hold up. Has anyone else regained their 4G network connection?
