Another Bionic that can't get a data connection... no 4G/3G/1X signal.. only wifi...

I was in Ft. Lauderdale airport with no data at all, I'd get 3G for 2 minutes then nothing. I'm at BWI now with solid 4G. It's Verizon.

Yes, It is the dreaded BSOD issue. It happens from time to time for no apparent reason. In the future, you can do a reset by holding down the up and down volume keys and the power button at the same time for about 5 to 10 seconds. This will at least save you from having to take the case off and battery out.

Ok my bionic was in the holster, pulled it out and hit the lock key to wake it. Bottom softkeys lit up, then went black. Couldnt get it to restart until I reset the battery. Wtf? Anyone else have this problem? To top it off its in an otter box so i had to pull it all apart. Pain in the ass!

The BSOD issue seems to occur randomly and sometimes 2 or 3 times in one day only to be followed by 2 weeks of it not happening. Some people have never had one. Some people have a lot. I have had a few on 2 of my Bionics and haven't had one yet on my current Bionic in 3 weeks. Nobody knows what causes it. As far as short nails goes, that could be caused by biting them or using a nail trimmer. LOL

No Connectivity in 4G/3G on Droid Bionic - Gingerbread 2.3.4

I just got off the phone with Verizon. After 2 hours of troubleshooting the woman told me that I had to to a hard reset on the phone. That it is most likely a phone problem and not a network problem. With everything i'm reading here that sounds like it's a load of crap. I'm trying to frantically figure out how to back up all of my data on the phone (which android make extremely difficult) I'm not sure what to do. Please help. I'm about to throw this thing in the garbage disposal.

Verizon is telling you this because it is their last resort before shipping you out a refurbished phone. I have had 5 Bionics and I can tell you that none of my data connection problems have been resolved by doing a Factory data reset. Motorola has an update 5.9.901 that they are going to be pushing out some time soon that addresses this issue (hopefully). Loss of data connection is a known issue with the Bionic and VZW is just going down the troubleshooting list.

Hey Scottd you are wright bullcrap. Sounds like OTA is getting ready to drop though dont know if it eill do any good though.

Hey wooddale, I am hoping that 5.9.901 fixes the data problems. I don't know why they can't give an estimated launch date though. It took 2 months from the time 5.5.893 was leaked before it was an official OTA. I hope it doesn't take that long for 5.9.901. You know Moto won't give out any answers on this issue.

The weird thing is, everything was working just fine until 3 days ago. I have had this phone since September and I have never had a problem. Android did an big update earlier last week and then my problems started. So basically I should just hang on to the phone and wait for the update and tell the Verizon rep to go screw and not wipe my phone?

Some people who just received the latest software update (5.5.893) have reported their phone getting worse. Doing a Factory data reset can't hurt. I am not sure what problems you are having, but the new update should be out soon. You may want to try a reset if your issues with your phone are more than data connection issues. A reset probably won't help data drops though. What specific problems have you been having since 3 days ago?

I'm on the mysterious 5.5.901 build. Never had the BSOD but data drops were out of control. Haven't had a data drop since updating. Battery life has been great. The camera is drastically improved and I haven't lost an app that I installed on the sdcard. I was pushed this update by VZW but didn't install it until VZW Support told me to.

Yes...I'm rooted but I can't install any roms because they aren't compatible with the new system. At the current rate it won't matter unless some new Devs start working on it. Dhacker is hard at work on ICS but Th3ory, Kejar31 have moved on. Nitroglycerin is still working on stuff. Cell Team Six?!?

No problems other than the connectivity. I'm not rooted (I don't even understand what that is) and I am just figuring out how to back up all of my apps etc..which they couldn't have made it more difficult to back up everything. Therefore, I'm trying to figure out the issue before I do a factory reset. I would rather not because I don't know what rooting is or how to back up anything and I'm terrified I'm going to lose all of my data.

You may want to try an app in the market called "Mybackuppro". There is a free version and it will back everything up including your apps.
