Battery drains fast!

Just bought Riptide GP.

Play it and you won't worry about battery life anymore - the graphics will knock you off your feet.

By the way GPS doesn't eat battery unless you USE it. Most of the time unless you are using Navigation you won't be using it so turning it off is absolutely unnecessary. The programs that do use it don't use it much so it's a minor drain at best.

That sounds like a wake lock issue. What is your awake time vs. up time?

I've noticed a weird trend on my GNex. If I leave WiFi on, even if its NOT connected to any network, the battery drain is about 5% / hour with the phone sitting idle. With WiFi OFF, the phone sitting idle, the battery drain is 10% / hour. Does anyone else notice this?

That's nothing mine was 50% over night.

Went to bed with about 48% left. Woke up around 7:36am and checked real quick and say 17% but maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me. Just woke up now and see its at 30%. Considering the network went down maybe it used more battery to find a signal. Really liking this battery life.

Definitely not normal. Last night I drained about 15% on idle with a couple notifications received (facebook, email, text). Something is up with yours for sure if it's draining that much.

Interesting...I'll have to talk to Verizon. Especially because since I got the phone my service has been awful

Do you really have connection issues? Im hoping you're refering to Verizon Galaxy Nexus signal problem fix coming, meter being changed | The Verge with the "awful service" on the phone.

If so, Do any of you guys get bad service during calls, texts, downloads? or is it just the bars dropping..because ive seen my phone having 0 bars..and still manage to call, send mms, send texts AND download at normal speeds for 3g on a 3g net...

And if this is the case, Who cares if you show 0 bars when you have a connection that works? Its not an Iphone 4 where the call wont even go through or cuts of because "you're holding it wrong"...
Signal algorithms are hard...give google a break for playing safe...better to show one less than one too many Id say.


On topic; this is what I got today with just browsing, having screen on about 5% (yes 5 if not less..its almost at the left corner of the check-box). Did some "medium+"(wouldnt say heavy..) texting and some browsing..
Im with some of you other guys here, Using cpu at 100% in the background or having some apps working background while the phone is on standby is less of a drainage than have the screen turned on and doing nothing..
Also, I use a TOTALLY black background and pitch black background during texting.

Also notice it drained a lot faster than i thought..so I had to use airplanemode and even shut it down for a while since I didnt know when id get home and I had to use the phone to make a call x)

I used x2 battery during the entire day. It saved me about ~1h..maybe more..if you believe it x)

Today was a much better day for my GN , like a lot of you my battery was going down quick ( off charge at 7am with 100% and with little use by 10am it was around 50-60 % and dead by 5pm) so after reading a bit I installed 2x Battery app and uninstalled Facebook and wow !! it's 4:15 and at 75% still .
