Downgrade to 902 - No app or data loss

1) I recommend keeping at least the update for the version you're using on the sdcard-ext just in case you have to fix it with my REINSTALL options.
2) Kind of. A locked bootloader means that anything you install has to be signed. Clearly only moto is going to do that. Beyond that, even if it's signed it doesn't guarantee you can install it. Meaning....look at the 238 downgrade to 905 issue. 905 FXZ is signed, yet, as we know you will brick hard if you try to install it on a 235+ phone. The reason for that is security. With an unlocked bootloader, you can flash anything you want. More dangerous since you need to make sure you KNOW what you're flashing is good. But you could replace the recovery partition with something a little more friendly like TWRP so you can flash anything you want. We can't do that. Nor will we ever be able to.

The update is your contingency plan. What sam says about unlocked being risky even applies to root a degree since for every person on the forums that knows how to compile a kernel and install linux without a graphical installer there are a hundred who don't even know who Linus Torvalds is.

You are quite correct.

Thread cleaned... again. Please everyone, lets keep it respectful in here. This is a highly active and productive thread but it is counter productive for us to have to keep coming in here to mop up arguments/disagreements.

Thanks, again, in advance.

In the future, if you have an issue in a thread, don't wait until there are 14 pages of mess. Report it or let myself, JSM or smalltowngirl know so that we can take care of it. I don't want to read bickering and people that are interested in your tools don't want to either.

I do not mean to clutter this thread but I tried to start a thread on this but did not get an answer.

How do I unroot if I am on the 238 leak?

This sucks. I just get the phone where I want it. I sign up for an app at work that allows me to see my corporate emails, install it and the app snitches on me to the IT staff that the phone is rooted.

It's why I'm a fan of the new vm model that allows complete separation of corporate nonsense vs your personal stuff. Anyway, good luck. Hope it works.
