It's a regression bug. I fixed it in 6.7 when I was away and never copied it to my main laptop. 7.2 coming up shortly. But you shouldn't need to do so since there's a 246 update installer.
I saw the installer for 246. I just thought i would try letting it create the boot.img. I appreciate ur work. I figured it would save u from having to create a new installer every time we get a new leak. At the rate we are going, there may be still several more leaks before we get OTA.
You removed the link for components, do I still need them? I cleared my HOB folder and started over with 7.2, HOB, then FXZ, then components? or just new RSD, then version.
Nobody reads anymore and people wonder why I start getting pissed...
5.9.905 FXZ
o) Add utils to the 7.1 installer
o) Release an FXZ only installer
NOTE: If you already have the COMPONENTS 1.0 installer, you do not need to download the FXZ installer. Please continue to use the COMPONENTS installer until we get a new FXZ. You should get the RSD installer and update RSD.
SamuriHL if it makes you feel any better I read your OP and then started using HOB with 238. I have updated with each leak--right up to 246 and have never had any problems. Thanks for making the process understandable and easy.

Thanks, but I have, several times. It doesn't tell me whether the subordinate files are self-extracting or whether I should extract to a single folder. Appreciate your incredibly helpful post.
So apologies to delasangre - a reading error on my part. Happens too often to me, but I have a lot of stuff to read/little time to do so these days. I was having trouble with messages about failure to move files, overwriting folders, etc when I first ran the HOB and components.
Finally got it set up and it ran fine and without problems.
Thanks, Sam and all who tolerated my questions. I will try better to keep up in the future.

Its perfectly fine, again I wasn't trying to be rude, just trying to help. Even I was called out for not reading something. I am glad you got it going, and Sam does amazing work! I think I am going to take the leap up to .246 tonight.
Just try to remember if I call you out for not reading something, don't take it personally. Look at it from the point of view that I'm one person supporting more people than you care to ever know. I don't mind...really. But it helps when I post information that people read it so I don't have to repeat it over...and over.....and over......and over.....So if I get frustrated, you should understand why and not get offended.

I do have a 246 folder with the update in there, so i have no idea why it don't work. I know we already have the installer for 246, just thought I would try it and see if it would work.
