Downgrade to 902 - No app or data loss

The FAQ specifically says its not for "boobs" but I'm somewhat of a noob with HoB. I had the luxury of installing 242 straight from 905. Now I get to learn about the HoB. I'm completely confident it will work but less confident I'll find all the info I need to do it right the first time. This thread alone has 277 pages. :P

All the info you need is in the op and the faq. It's really straight forward. The only optional step is root.

Well just ask if need be, but as Sam said...all you need is the op and FAQ. You will be surprised how easy it is when you get into it.

LOL. I'm thinking I should get some sleep and try this tomorrow.

Earlier I installed everything and the menu looked fine. It found 246 and it was a menu option. But after reading a few posts back I uninstalled everything and reinstalled HoB 7.2, FXZ, RSD, then 246 in that order. Now my menu doesn't show 246 at all.

I'm thinking that rsd lite is baked in so you don't need it unless you are going to fxz separately. I would redownload 246 and try installing it again. I had to download it 3 times...first 2 were corrupt from my internet connection I'm guessing.

My bad I see that the directions in the op have changed since I used it. Installing rsd was right.

Um Hmmm. Going out on a limb here and thinking the 246 folder is... Missing? :)

Nope. Folder is there. File is properly named with "246" at the end. The installer installed it to the proper place right from the get-go.

Folder structure is:

/HOB
/HOB/246
/HOB/905_FZX
/HOB/root
/HOB/rsd
/HOB/rsd_scripts
/HOB/utils

then bat file and uninstall exe/dat files.

Edit: I figured it out. If I run it as administrator it won't find 246. If I run it as a limited user, it finds 246 just fine. Go figure that one out! Out of practice I ran the bat as "Administrator" tonight, but earlier it was from command prompt so it wasn't administrator.

And.. no surprise.. it was all flawless until I tried to apply the update. I got an error. Threw an error aboutr build.prop and some other nasty stuff. I had a similar issue with upgrading to 905. Turned out my 1% battery hack was the culprit, so I swore off using that again.

Anyway, I took a picture of the screen. As soon as I find my camera cable I'll post the exact message.

Edit: Exact message:

assert failed:
file_getprop("/system/build.prop", "ro.build.fingerprint") == "verizon/targa_vzw/cdma_targa:2.3.4/5.5.1_84_DBN-74/12:user/release-keys"

This is beyond my realm unfortunately. Have you used safestrap?

I did have it installed. I was also rooted. I uninstalled safestrap and unrooted the phone. I was particularly cautious about what I install with root permissions since that 1% battery fiasco drive me crazy for a few days. I ultimately had to backup everything with titanium backup, then do either a factory reset or fxz(I forget which.. it was a long time ago) and then restore my apps with titanium backup.

Currently when I turn the phone on I get a flash failure message and I get to see the beautiful fastboot menu.

Currently doing a repair of 242 to restore everything back to how it was. It's looking like I'll be doing another factory defaults wipe thing again. I wish I knew what I was doing that was modifying key files preventing updates.

There is an option to fix the flash failure that you got. Then I would reinstall 242 and try 246 again. It looked like the build props didnt match which caused the update to fail. If the fingerprints aren't right then it won't allow the update. I'm thinking it was do to a boot IMG not flashing right but like I said....its a little out of my realm. I'm sure Sam will be on again like always and correct me and fix your issue. He is awesome!

I repaired my phone and I am back to running with 242 again. Guess I'll sleep on it and try tomorrow with a fresh mind. Thanks for the help.

Sounds like a good plan. I always make the mistake of messing with mine when I'm half asleep or drunk so good idea lol. I'll be around tomorrow to see how you came along. Take care.

If you got that message it's failing the RSD flashing. Post your swdl.txt file.
