Ok, I want to get this off my back... From the first post.
o) Designed as automation for those that know the manual processes
When I saw that I went looking for the "manual processes". I googled for days and I was no closer to understanding the manual process than I am now. I posted in another thread that I wanted a detailed understanding and posted a few question. SamuriHL gladly provided those answers. But to be honest, I never saw a manual process for this anywhere. When I saw the above comment I assumed that there was a thread out there that would walk you through the manual process with a detailed explanation for what exactly you were doing. While I have a vague understanding of what I did using the HoB I could NEVER have done the upgrading without the HoB.
So is that bullet meant to scare the poopy out of me into not doing it or am I really supposed to know and understand the manual process and I got lucky and circumvented the knowledge I should have gained before I started? Even after using your HoB I'm not sure I could have done the same thing manually, nor could I explain it any better now than yesterday. (This is why I was looking for a Youtube video before. I like to see someone else do it correctly before I give it a try.)
I'm not trying to remanufacture a good thing. I'm confused on that bullet because I used HoB without knowing the manual process(either sheer luck, stupidity, or both). I've spent so much time trying to find the manual process that finally I gave up and decided just to give it a go and see how badly things would go. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I
think I knew all I needed to know since the RSD process broke my phone, but I knew exactly how to fix it also.
Hopefully this doesn't sound like I'm criticizing HoB. I'm more of critical of myself and trying to understand if I'm being too critical, too cautious, or the bullet doesn't have the hidden meaning I think it does.
Edit: Sidenote: I did figure out last night that I HAD to run the batch file from a command prompt with non-adminstrator rights. Double-clicking the .bat file never worked right(RSD wouldn't execute), and right clicking and giving admin permissions didn't work either(246 wouldn't appear on the list of options. Is this normal on Win 7 x64? I thought it was odd that I never saw anyone complain of the same issue I have...
