Droid 2 Global ROOT, CUSTOM RECOVERY & SIM UNLOCK Tutorial

I just ran through the z4 process again and it worked this time, had to do it twice for some reason. I can get SU now!
On Set CPU, I set a few profiles up, allowed set on boot, then do I just hit the back or home key and it will still be "running"? Hopefully I will be able to tell my underclocking to 300 when black screen is on by increased battery - im really hurting, cant make it through one day on average usage (email/phone, maybe a game or two).

How does setcpu destroy battery life? There are tons of people raving about setcpu and even task killers working pretty well if setup correctly?

Android has built in functions that do the task killing. Task killers themselves will bloat up while constantly running to manage other apps from sucking battery. You might have better luck with them on bloated systems, but if you disable bloatware, it will be better than a task killer.

SetCPU can be good, if setup properly. Just be careful if you are not full sure of what you are doing, it can lead to even more problems. In general, it will help the battery life for normal simple tasks, but playing games and anything other than that you will need to run at the normal CPU settings.

Screebl can help out too. Not every personally used it but if you are at a desk or other places where you set your phone down, it can be used to sense orientation and disable features that you don't need while say you are at work (like updating of facebook or gmail as a couple examples).

success on 2/3/2011

First attempt did nothing. I had to exit and kill the app. Second attempt caused it to hang. I had to pull the battery and reboot. Third attempt was successful.

rooted my d2g and my brother x a different way just downloaded the apk file of z4 to phone and opened it up then root still got to backup then overclock:lifting::bling::icon_ banana:

My girlfriend just got her new D2G this weekend, and so far is up to date with all the latest Verizon updates and whatnot. With that said, would the instructions on page 1 still work for her? I really want to root her phone so she can use Wireless Tether(one of the main reasons she bought a smartphone).

I rooted my D2G for the very first time last Friday using the instructions on page 1. It was very easy and were the wireless instructions. I purchased my D2G a couple of weeks ago and it was up to date when I rooted it.

My brothers d2g wont install the fission rom 2.4.etc. He's rooted and has the bootstrap recovery but is says( bad) after trying to install it using recovery. Im stumped. Im trying to get him a nice rom but its acting I*hone gay... HELP?!?! TIA.

Are you going to recovery to install it? The Rom Manager will install it for you, just tap the same rom name you did to download it and then it will go through setup options (make sure to backup and have it clear caches.
