Then 100's of CM's groupies would join the forum and flood the pool to make it inaccuate as to how the REAL members feel. That be those with say over 20 posts and not all 20 being BD flames.

This was a witch hunt over a "thanks Bro" and the Mods caved in to a bunch of lackies that will now leave laughing at what they have accomlished. Visit their forum. They have live wallpapers making fun of this this forum with their childish "kanged" and "pnwed" comments.

i love cyanogenmod, but i would vote to keep blackdroid around because he does make good roms and people do make mistakes, hes not perfect, and deserves another chance.

I agree with that statement but it will never happen. Ego's are the culprit and now it has spread to the "higher ups" of this forum it seems. (maybe i am wrong) doubtful though

Someone has plans to build a doghouse. Someone has the same plans to build the same doghouse. The "plans" come from "open source" so anyone can use them. One person builds it plain and another adds heat/air conditioning. But both start from the same plan? (google source code)
What is the difference?

Taking someone else's idea (or work) is what is done every minute of the day in the world. Thats how development works and gets better.

I like the analogy only that the other guy just took the first guys dog house and painted it. He didn't know how to read the plans from "open source" to build the doghouse in the first place, so he just took the other guys and said tada.

In other words BD is like the company B.A.S.F. "we don't make the products you buy, we make them better" It's the American way

That's idiotic. Do you even know what BASF does? They don't take products and do something to them. They make components that companies use to make their own products.....

If you insist on continuing to make these analogies at least make them correctly.

Yep. If BD hadn't asked to have his rom removed, no way all of this would have happened. Isn't it ironic that Koush added the rom back and keep it there against BD's wishes. The very rom that they now have moral misgivings about! As long as the money was coming in, the rom was great.

Yep! Couldn't agree more... blackdroid stopped feeding his wallet.. then failed to feed his ego. So here we are now! I only hope blackdroid continues his work on his own site now.. as that is where I will be spending most of my time as soon as a forum is opened to post in. I cannot express my fustraition and anger more. I tried not to be a fanboy of any developer. But I feel bd got the shaft. And I give him my support! I have 0 respect for koush, cyanogen, and all their followers. And am hugely disappointed in droidforums decision. I am embarrassed to have a droidforums supporting member badge.

I hope to have the forum up and running around 3-4ish eastern

Please if you have the time will you PM me when it is live. I want to get signed up ASAP. And if you guys need any staff to help keep the trash out I will be more then willing to help out. As I am sure as soon as it is live cyanogen and koush groupies will be out in full force.

yes i did read it, but i also read the thread that he made in a different section, hes never going to admit to stealing all of cyanogen's code, but he did admit to having random pieces of code from cyanogen in his rom. ill admit i didnt like what blackdroid and i think he stole stuff, but throwing him off this site is a bad move, too many people here like blackdroid and thank him for the help hes given them that this is just stupid.

let the community decide blackdroids fate.

- nobody will ever trust ud until a version is released that is substantively different from all other available mods. as of now, we have no reason to think his past mods weren't just themed bb and cyanogen.

- i don't see any problem with using UD. i've never used it, or cyanogen, before. but there is nothing inherently wrong with using the mod, just the actions of the maker. if he ever clears his name, then supporting the developer might become ethical. but using the mod is fine, just know that it is basically cyanogen.

Sadly - the child in that picture is clearly a winner - he probably has a better understanding of how to treat people than all of us. But nonetheless its use in this thread was inappropriate.

Welp, thanks to the right decision being made, I will continue to visit these forums.

We all got blindsiding by BD. I used his roms back on version 3. Probably before most of you with "UD" sigs where even rooted. Plenty of times stuff came up about stealing from LevelUp (Beautiful widgets) and from Bugless. Both times I sided with BD, because I wanted to believe that he was on the up and up, especially because he is so helpful.

Then he was booted from AllDroid. His response was simply, that they didn't like him and accused him of putting warez in his roms, which he did with Beautiful widgets) But he claimed it was a mistake and it wouldn't happen again. AllDroid claimed that it was because of that and his taking of code from Pete.

So again, I trusted BD and followed him here for version 5. I tried so hard to believe what he was telling us about his work. I wanted to believe him, I truly did. He was always posting on his forums and trying to help people. Of course his threads were huge, mainly because of noobs asking every question under the sun. He seemed like a good guy who made a mistake with LevelUp and now with that behind him I was ready.

Then as the versions starting coming out (like 3 a week). I noticed that instead of keeping up with Pete, which he did on AllDroid, he just pumped out basically bad versions. Most people were on 7 when he was releasing 9. Around 9 i noticed way to many similarities, as did most, to Cyanogen.

I remember a few people asked him about it and he said that he was always gtalking with koush and cyanogen. so things were on the up and up. Later I learned that, before this blowout, he was not talking with anyone.

I bought RomManager due to koush's promoting it, and the fact that BD was telling all of us how great it was. It was the future of Rom delivery. I 'm glad I bought it now for CM, but at the time he released 2 versions on there, then pulled support. Claiming that Koush was making all the money on it. Well, yeah he is, he made the app, BD knew that from the beginning.

Koush later showed us all why UD wasn't loading right. That was the final straw for me. I knew that I could not trust BD, nor continue to support his "work."

With his statement made about how it was only a single .xml file and the clock that was taken, I knew that he was again trying to cover his tracks as he did before with LevelUp and Alldroid.

Please BD as an old fan of your work, move on to a new hobby. It's clear you have a hard time with honest work. You make people like Chevy, Adamz, Pete, and others look bad.

If you decide to keep "building" roms, then throw all this crap away and start over. You still probably have a legion of minions that will DL your roms. So just scrap it all and rebuild, since you say you can build, right?

This is a perfect summary of what I went through as well. I couldn't have put it better myself.

I agree with the forum's decision. Let BD go and he can take his followers with him. The last few releases of UD were buggy, and I began to get the impression on the boards that BD really didn't know what he was doing.

It's a shame that he couldn't just admit he screwed up and move on. While I'm sure there will be a lot of people that will follow him, I'm also sure that he has lost a lot of respect from others who used to enjoy what they thought was his work.
