this is honestly the most childish behavior I have seen (read) in my life among "grown-ups". You all should be ashamed of yourselves. Atleast my decision to root or not is now an easy one, not that any of you care because you clearly are better than me because you can pimp your droid.

You base your decision to root or not on people's behavior? Does this carry over into all aspects of life?

no but i am not going to do something to my phone when all this crap is going on. Chances are there would be zero problems rooting my phone but when devs are pitted against eachother I am not risking it.

Well, trying to use logic and reason doesnt work to get my point across(see my previous posts)...

So why not just put it in a way that might be understood by some of those in here..

Have a :pint: and a :icon_ banana:.. move on.. and get over it..jeez.:icon_eek::)

Well I find it a shame that the kids won. I was not really trying to take sides on this thing, I just wanted it to go away and let everything go back to normal. Now that apparently a bunch of QQing members forced the hand of the staff to close an entire section of the forum, I don't know how I feel. This /was/ a great community, but I don't think it will ever be as great ever again. That is everyone's fault. Hope everyones real proud of themselves.

Get a damn clue, the real dev's work on these things for for absolutely no reward except for some geek cred. The inflated egos and epeen flexing all come with it, so get used to it. It's the same with every underground hacking scene.

No reward except for some geek cred? Koush's Rom Manager premium has 5,000-10,000 downloads, at $4 a pop and 5,000 dls that is $20,000 plus people donate directly. I'm not saying that the devs shouldn't get something for their work but there is a little more than geek cred to be gained. In fact this whole thing started when BD decided to ditch Rom Manager because UD was in the paid rom section. Koush was basically getting money from BD's work (which we now find out was actually mostly Koush's work anyways lol) because BD told all of his loyal followers to go get Rom Manager premium so they could use it to get UD. I know there were a lot of people who bought it just for UD. Of course on the other hand BD was getting donations for his UD roms which if he stole and didn't give cred to the original devs takes away from potential donations to them.

Anyways enough about money. I appreciate the work of all the devs including Cyanogen, Koush, and BlackDroid. It is a shame that there has been this problem of stolen work with no credit given. It is pretty ****ty to take credit for other peoples work but it is also kind of lame to make an account on another forum just to start a flame war and get someone shut down. I think everyone involved has come off looking worse in the end. The whole idea of open source is for everyone to add what they can to make our phones the best they can be, we should be thankful for contributions by anyone whether it is a whole rom or just a tweak or hack that adds a slight improvement. Obviously BD did something to the rom because some people think UD works better and some people like CM better so there are some differences. If all he did was theming and some minor hacks/tweaks he should of been straight up about it like JRummy who puts out awesome tweaked/themed CM roms. I hope everyone can just move on from this and continue putting out high quality roms. Personally I can't wait for the new Droidmod release which will be "straight up liquified awesome" and I can quit flashing like a rom addict.

This won't be good for droidforums

Maybe not in the short run but in the long run I think it will be better.

Doesnt get much more clear then this

I see your point, all those people reading and posting because of drama. Thank god they locked it. I would rather spend my time reading through posts on how to make my phone better rather than reading hundreds of posts of people arguing and flaming back and forth. No wonder so many people were reading UD, it all makes sense now.

Just wanted to write a quick non dramatic note in support of the forum mods decision. It took a lot of guts to make this decision with the potential loss of traffic and I commend you for standing up for what is right. The aftermath contained a lot of silliness on both sides (this isn't crypts vs bloods people) but the orginal offense and the way BD dealt with it was ugly and unethical. Insult someone? fine. Borrow their work and give credit, perfect. But insult a dev group, then try to pass off their work as your own, even in the face of indisputable proof, not right. How are the people that originally bought BD's story and defended him still defending him in light of what he did. I realize that he is very hands on and helpful, but that was a punk thing to do and reveals a big character flaw

You do realize Koush gives away his ROM with the free version of ROM manager right?

He does now, he didn't originally. I know because when UD first went on rom manager I tried to get it and had to pay to get the premium version. I am happy to give Koush the $4 but I probably wouldn't have bought it when I did except that I wanted to dl UD through it.

What's weird is that I just chose to root and apply a rom in light of all of this. I don't know why, but it just compelled me to do it. Now I'm running JRummy's Cyan Remix(I think that's what it's called), and I'm not going back. I believe that if I stick with Cyanogen ROM's I should be good to go, I have known about him, since back in the G1 days, he's not going anywhere.

Or do you mean he gives away his own rom, CM, for free on it? That has been true from the start but still a lot of people still paid the $4 to get UD through rom manager.

Am I missing something here? Someone spends a ton of time, effort and energy on something to make it easy for any wannabe geek to download and install a ROM , they make other peoples ROMs, themes, kernels available on the same program, even the ROM that this very thread is about, and you are knocking him for making a few bucks?

Do you not think he has probably spend far more time, effort and energy on the things he has worked on for all our benefit than he is being paid? I would wager and suggest that if he worked at a min wage job he would make more money considering the time he must have invested in this. The very reason he is not in the forums answering questions is because he's busy actually creating something instead of copying it. If all he had to do was copy other peoples work and then claim it as his own he of course would have all the time in the world to answer questions.

But of course the real issue is that he didn't steal someone's code, put it on the marketplace and then ask for money for it. He did not steal and use someone's code and ask for donations. He created something and made it available for people to purchase so they could load ROMs. BD actually asked for donations for something he did not create. Totally different issue.

Im sorry but I got UD through rom manager and did not pay. I finally paid to use CM Extras on RM just saying..

I have watched this unfold for the past few days and I have not seen a forum go down hill as quickly as this one! So what I have noticed is you bd fanboys whining because he got exposed, cyanogen fanboys crying because bd disrespected cyanogen by copy and pasting and not giving credit, srtfool running from forum to forum trying to explain the obvious( I actually feel sorry for him). Through out all of this my man bd has not really defended his self, his brief post and dancing around certain questions speaks volumes. I'm upset that my favorite forum has turned into this. I moved on from bd roms about a week ago and on to cyanogen when I figured out if you changed kernels it was just as fast if not faster than ultimate droids, but I understand it is not the same for everybody. The only people to be hurt in all of this is the community and that is what sucks, both camps should be ashamed of themselves!

Maybe you missed the part where I said "I am happy to give Koush the $4" because you were to busy trying to misconstrue my statement to fit your own purpose. I guess I should have put it in bold and bright red letters like the UD fanboys so you could read it. Also as I pointed out in my earlier post it is more than a few bucks, he has probably gotten thousands of dollars off of rom manager alone (as I pointed out in my first post over 5,000 dls of premium at $4 each).
