He does now, he didn't originally. I know because when UD first went on rom manager I tried to get it and had to pay to get the premium version. I am happy to give Koush the $4 but I probably wouldn't have bought it when I did except that I wanted to dl UD through it.

Or do you mean he gives away his own rom, CM, for free on it? That has been true from the start but still a lot of people still paid the $4 to get UD through rom manager.

All I was pointing out is a lot of people paid Koush to get Blackdroid's rom. I'm not knocking either of them just saying. You can look through the posts from when BD pulled his rom from RM to see all of the people who said they already paid $4 for RM premium and were bummed.

Also Koush is a great dev and deserves to get money/donations so people need to quit acting like I am saying that Koush doesn't deserve to get paid just pointing out that money was probably part of the problem that caused all of this fighting in the first place. It is the root of all evil after all

Someone spends a ton of time, effort and energy on something to make it easy for any wannabe geek to download and install a ROM , they make other peoples ROMs, themes, kernels available on the same program, even the ROM that this very thread is about, and you are knocking him for making a few bucks?

I agree with this sentiment completely. From where I sit, it's like the weather. I can open up a web browser, navigate to weather.com and check the forecast. Or, for a couple of dollars, I can buy a widget someone developed to deliver instant weather info to my home screen. That developer isn't selling me the weather; they are selling an easy, efficient way to deliver the weather. ROM Manager isn't selling the ROMs; it is selling an alternative to manually downloading individual, free .zip files, loading them to my SD card, rebooting to recovery, and loading the ROM. It isn't selling the ability to check for updates, but makes it so I don't have to.

I downloaded RM the day BD anounced his rom was on it. It was free on there the OTA you had to pay to get not the Rom. You could still download it via RM just not OTA it. Not arguing just stating how and why I got it.

Just wanted to write a quick non dramatic note in support of the forum mods decision. It took a lot of guts to make this decision with the potential loss of traffic and I commend you for standing up for what is right. The aftermath contained a lot of silliness on both sides (this isn't crypts vs bloods people) but the orginal offense and the way BD dealt with it was ugly and unethical. Insult someone? fine. Borrow their work and give credit, perfect. But insult a dev group, then try to pass off their work as your own, even in the face of indisputable proof, not right. How are the people that originally bought BD's story and defended him still defending him in light of what he did. I realize that he is very hands on and helpful, but that was a punk thing to do and reveals a big character flaw

lol don't think you really want to get involved. Fact is that Black Droid stole Cyanogen 5.0.5.7, themed it, released it as his own work (UD10). When faced with the hard evidence and facts he played the "no we did not" and "oh files got mixed up" which was a completely terrible lie covering another lie.

The internet imploded multiple times on droidforum ban hammer swinging full force with mass china censorship.

I think maybe we close to the calm after the storm.

Well, while I don't agree with shutting someone off normally, I do agree with forum owners doing as they will to maintain the integrity of their site. It is sad to see that Blackdroid will no longer be supported here, but as I always say: Tomorrow the sun will rise, Tomorrow the sun will set and somewhere Scott Baio will plow a woman he really doesn't love. Point is, life goes on.
