Features, and Bug-Fixes, and Themes, OH MY! Sapphire - 0.8.4

For some reason it won't let me add my google account and will not let me open the market at all. I've done the 3x wipe and still no love. .70 worked just fine for me and I really wanna test this out

You've installed the base ROM and the gapps package?

What happens when you try to click on the android on boot?

That tis the problem i don't get the android on boot. I'm trying to remember if I installed the gapps package...maybe that's my issue?

gapps needs to be installed for proper boot up / set up.

Wow, pdroid and I submitted at the same time. Sorry for the redundancy.

If you don't get the android, my guess is that you did fail to install the gapps package.

Yeah, that was a brain fart...didn't realize what gapps was...

I'll wipe and try again

Another question. The remove clock option. Does this actually remove the clock and move the icons to the right or does it just change the clock color?

Totally removes the clock and the icons move over. A reboot is needed for this to "take".

are the adds blocked with this Rom as default?

No. Open a terminal, su, adblock on, good to go.

Keeps saying denied when I try that.

:icon_evil:

It's saying that I don't have root. I have Root explorer and setCPU running fine. I have the superuser app installed. Terminal emulator is in the allow list. What am I doing wrong?

I did a full factory reset/data wipe in recovery before I installed 0.8.4. Installed Gapps, Running P3's 1200mhz kernel, installed this theme: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...-minimalist-froyo-sapphire-petes-bb-more.html

When I tried a theme that wasn't ported for this specific ROM it broke root, so if the version your are running isn't for 0.8.4 Sapphire, then I would suspect that to be your problem. Hope that helps.

Installing gapps package?

Can someone tell me how to install the gapps package after you flash the ROM? Is it the same way to as installing the base ROM?

Wifi tether?

What app for wifi tethering?

The 0.8.4 changelog says the default kernel supports "wired and wireless tether". Does this get past the Verizon tethering issue on Froyo?

Thanks!

With Sapphire default kernel or other P3Droid Sapphire specific kernels use the following link for wireless tethering app.

http://android-wifi-tether.googlecode.com/files/wireless_tether_2_0_2.apk

This has nothing to do with Verizon 'tethering'.

Works!

Works for me too.

I'm still wondering about that terminal emulator saying I don't have permissions, when all my other root-only apps work.

Where does it say you don't have permissions? In terminal you typing in su from onscreen keyboard on physical keyboard?
