Gingerbread.....i want it now !!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there any idea when Gingerbread will end up in my X2?

Sent from my DROID X2 using DroidForums

From what was said on Droid Life, it could be awhile. Supposedly after the problems the Droid X had with GB, they have now rejected all the GB builds from Motorola. You know how rumors and reports are so take it with a shaker full of salt.

I have to say guys, after playing around with Gingerbread with the MR2.5 Radio, I'm very pleased... I don't know Chingy but he has done an outstanding job with his Gingeritis 1.1 rom. I love the feel and the idea that Netflix works right out the box is great. This is so much better than Froyo IMO... Also, I've always had very long lock on times with the GPS; now it takes just a few seconds (consistently) to lock on. I'm very pleased; hopefully I'll never have to see Froyo again... Thanks all for helping this android newb to get this installed! No regrets!

Awesome . Always glad to help. Especially when it goes well lol.

Chingy said if you need to clear VM notification go under call settings and clear voicemail notifications. I just cleared data on phone..it worked but lost signal for a few seconds.

very cool of you all to assist wreels out with his root! many kudos to all who helped. I am considering rooting myself, but am totally overwhelmed with all the information and posibilities. For me, I dont know who is a trusted source of information and who isnt as far as rooting goes. could someone recommend a trusted site/specific webpage that would answer such simple questions as the following (forgive my ignorance):

What happens to all the apps I purchased either from the market or amazon?

Can I "unroot" and go back to the way things were on the phone "out of the box" so to speak?.... and the HOW TO aswell

A really great "step-by-step" website/tutorial that baby-steps you from pre-root preparation through to the very end.

The idea of getting Gingerbread benefits, without the handcuffs and bloatware has become very appealing in recent days and it becomes clear that the phone will be obsolete by the time HTC and VZW get around to doing right.

Hi, these are the procedures I followed to root my phone. They are very detailed and do not leave much room for error. Just pay close attention to the procedures and follow them to the T and you should be fine. It looks overwhelming but just like yakitori said, it's not hard once you start going through the process. TBolt Root Procedures: [RS Guide] How to Root Your Thunderbolt Thanks to the guys at thunderboltforums.com for these. Very helpful!

Also..we are here to help if you run into anything that gives you a question.

Your paid apps should still show paid in the market. They are associated with your gmail account

Dumb question. I know that you don't lose stuff on the SD card when you root. If angry birds Rio is on the SD card, do you keep all your stars when you root? My son, and I, don't want to lose everything!

Angry birds doesn't save data to the SD card, so you will lose your saved progress if you root.

You can go to /data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds and findbthe highscores.lua file and copy to your sdcard. After you root...download angrybirds again and play the first level...then paste the copied file to overwrite the current and viola...highscores restored

I've seen this said by a few ppl wanting to know about unrooting. It is possible, and extremely easy, I've got the bone stock, fresh outta the box RUU if anyone doesn't have it and wants it. I will throw it in my dropbox when I het home

Just to clarify for myself since I'm new to the t-bolt, is the RUU similar to the SBF of the Motorola world? I started rooting with the D1, then moved to the DX so all this HTC lingo is new to me, but I'm trying to learn it. Slowly but surely... lol

As always, I'm very greatful for all the help everyone gives on these forums. I would have never been able to fully enjoy my phones without them. :)

The RUU is basically a complete all in one. ROM, radio, kernel everything in one. Basically just like an SBF file, but u don't need RSD lite to flash it. that's the good thing about hboot, no more outside or external apps to flash things like that. Just throw it on the SD card, rename it to PG05IMG.zip and it does all the work for u right from the phone!

thanks guys. Totally new to this but I'm going to try it. Yakitori, don't you need to be rooted to access that folder and file?

Yes. I forgot that rooting will replace your current setup. Duh. On the d1 it doesn't. Sorry bout that

On the otherhand...u can edit that file with root explorer and "win" those levels back. Lol

After June 30th came and went I loaded Gingerbread myself. MR 2.5 radio with Das Bamf 2.1 remix. Great battery life, no reboots, quick gps. Everything just works how it should. I highly recommend this Rom.
