Here's the 5.5.893 update file str8 from Moto. No root necessary.

This is how i used to have to patch my OG droid with leaked official roms.

Same with me, but the OP said all you need to do is "Check for updates in Settings, About Phone, System Updates" after the zip file is installed in the root area of SD-EXT.

What version did the Bionic ship with, and what version is truly the update? Thanks!

My Bionic says 5.5.886 and it should say 5.7.893 when undated (the title is in error).

I just patched using the one step update from Leaked 5.7.893 Full update (.886 --> .893) - Android Forums and now im at 5.7.893

OK, after you put the zip file in the SD-EXT root area, what steps did you do, the ones mentioned at the beginning of this thread or the steps from the link you posted?

The OP's update takes you to 5.5.893...the one on android forums takes you to 5.7.893.

I used the the steps from android forums. If you try the one in this forum with the update from android forums it doesnt find the update.

I figured out my problem... Needed to follow the steps in the first part of the post from android forums.... didnt see that before.

Don't rename it. Just make sure it's in the root dir of sd card (top most level). So, use your "Files" app (which every bionic has) and move it from "downloads" to the root of SD card.

how exactly do you "move" this file from downloads to the root of the sd card...?????

I think the "root" of your sd card is like main area you see without clicking on any folders in it. Like when u go to "files" on your phone and you will see "internal storage" FIRST then "sd card" SECOND and "something else" LAST.....copy the file from your internal storage and go to "sd Card" and put it in there. NOT in a folder inside the sd card option. At least thats what I think the "root" of the sd card is.

Well, im a little wary about this update based on the mixed reviews. Anyone else having successful outcomes? Please post some pros and cons.

That's the one I used.3 zips through stock recovery,10 minutes later all is cool. Camera is great now.
Not rooted

Completely successful! Loving it. If you got questions about how to do it pm me. You don't need to put it in the "root" just put it on sd card in main part. Off that doesn't work try unzipping. I did both so don't know which made it work. But it works and is a major improvement!

i just earlier updated to 5.5.893. Can anyone tell me how to get to the newest version 5.7.893? I tried to boot into it from recovery(non rooted) but it still says 5.5.893.

I'm sure everything works all nice and zippy swell at first... call me skeptical, but there are a few posters saying they're still getting the data drop-outs after a while. That has me worried the patch will work just like the way this phone worked originally... everything's fine for a couple weeks and then the problem comes back.

And what's with the posts saying moto was going to push this update in 30-60 days? I thought it was supposed to be out early November. 60 days is end of December.

I'm pretty disgusted with Motorola phones by now.
