Here's the 5.5.893 update file str8 from Moto. No root necessary.

OK installed all updates and now at 5.7.893. But I have noticed that I am constantly losing my Wi-Fi, I've to turn off then turn back on just to be connected. Just now I reset Wi-Fi and it had blue bars, then 10 seconds later no bars on Wi-Fi. And 3g came back up. 3g is coming on and off with the the Wi-Fi bars there but no connection. Still have 4 full bars of regular service?

Edit. I have rebooted a couple times since update, once pulled battery and sim card. Have had to restart Wi-Fi at least 20 times in the last 20 minutes. I should not have to do that. 3g seems to work fine by itself for now. Camera is 10 times better. Never had the whine thru the headphones.

So I am on stock 5.7.893, I tried to upgrade to 5.7.894 with no luck. I tried the 1.1mb file and the 54mb file and both fail. Any ideas? Do I need to have system file 5.5.886 in for it to work? Thanks. Also although loosing forever root, can it still be manually done?

edited thread title to reflect what the op's initial intention was, I think... though it looks like you can get to 5.7.893 as well...

If you install rom manager, you can download .zip files. Even if you are not rooted. If you don't have rom manager the Bionic blocks the download of zip files.

That is incorrect. I dont have rom manager and yet i downloaded the .zip file just fine.

My phone says that the webtop version is unavailable...is this normal? I'm updated to 5.7.893 via the steps on the androidforums link that I got from this thread.

The android forums link has discussion on that and how to get webtop back. I dont know what process you used (the first one or the second one) but i used the first one. I didnt have any updates or modifications or anything so the first one was the option for me. If you did modify webtop or use custom roms or have updated to another stock release then you need to follow what is in the second set of steps.

I would check out the entire thread on androidforums because i have read others ask the same question but i dont remember the reply.

Well I have had the update on my phone since last night when I posted. All was good up until I made it to work. Now I have no 3g connection and barely a connection. Wth. It stays at 1x and i've never had 3g issues here. What to do

I am a total noob to this stuff but I did manage to root and flash Liberty on my phone yesterday. Is it recommended to apply this update on a phone with a custom rom?
