But if we get to the point where our phones are just as locked down as the iPhone is I would definitely consider buying the iPhone!
Same for me. I bought my Droid 1 in January and have rooted it, put on several themes, changed different things to make it easier to be productive, and so forth. Now all of the focus is on the newer android phones and little attention is being paid any more to the Droid 1. I have the phone where I want it, at least today. It functions, I can be functional, but all of the "playing" with it appears to be over now.

If Verizon came out with an iPhone, I would seriously look at it and see how productive I can be with it. Everyone I know who owns one finds that it is very easy to use and does very well. The biggest complaint is the network, which is no surprise, and the very reason I went with the Droid over the iPhone.

I am a new owner of a Mac as well. I've been using Windows or DOS based computers pretty much from the beginning (I go back even further to the Radio Shack TRS-80, for history buffs). I was drawn to try the Mac due to audio/video work, but hadn't touched an Apple product since college. I use Adobe's products and have found that they just run better on the Mac versus Windows. I am also a programmer so I chuckle at the statement that Mac's are for computer illiterates. Anyway, I'd never discount something without giving it a try. I know what android gives me and I know the level of productivity I can get from it, which is good. But, come the end of contract, if there is a Verizon iPhone, I'll be test driving it.

I'm torn between the new HTC sexiness and the VZW iPhone.

My contract is renewing in January, and I'm debating on both.

I just got the iPad and it's my favorite new toy. With all the apps that I use on a daily basis, I would honestly probably leave Android for an iPhone. But it all depends on what that new HTC is like.

Guys I got official inside word. Verizon iphone comes out the same day as starcraft ghost

This! I am still saving my first gen xbox so I can be ready for the day that comes out!

Is that around the time Diablo 3 comes out too?

Naw, I know a guy that works at Blizzard. D3 will be coming out and he said he's working on some secret project that he won't tell me about. Sadly, it's likley not ghost, but that would be great if it was!

Seems to me that D3 has become a Ghost. Seriously not like Diablo, D2 or D3 (vaporware) is a tough game/concept. They are re-rolling D2 with some prettied up graphics and such. Nothing new and spectacular. Problem is that WoW is their cash cow and that's where all the resources go. Look at Starcraft 2. All that time waiting and for THIS? REALLY? You would have that the SC2 would have been the end all be all but once you play it it's nothing extraordinary at all.

Sorry for going off topic but D3 lit me up. I am a HUGE Diablo and D2 fan and Blizzard has SOOO dropped the ball on this one.

I've held and used but never owned an I phone. After handling my ex's for a while I couldn't stand it. Shortly after the Droid came out and I picked up a used one on a car forum for $400 with car dock. Best money ever spent to me. I have trouble making phones last and this thing is extremely durable, reliable, and just overall exactly what I was looking for. Apps were a bit limited for me at first until the market exploded. All the I phones, even though metal in part all felt like cheap junk in my hands. I hate holding them. I work at the PA Ren Faire and everyone on operations staff was given a company I phone. Every last one hate it. They barely use them and still constantly complain about battery life. Sometimes I'll suggest my boss " grabs this useful app, or use their phone to do that" always forgetting its not android. I always get the same response:"I don't have/ can't do that" yeah... Droid x will be my next phone unless they come out with a phone similar in size with a dual core by March.

I think you people are silly. Choice is good and competition is good. I am sure that some AT&T users will switch to Verizon and some Android users will switch to the IPhone. I used to be a dieheart Palm user until my company stopped supporting Palm and then I had to go to Blackberry. Last year I switched to the Droid and was very happy with it until the update issues started. I will give the Apple IPhone a review and decide which is better for what my needs.

lol...the question from the OP was:

In 3 months time if there were an iPhone available on the Verizon network and you were up for your New Every 2 and the price point was equivalent to the latest and greatest Android phone at that time: Would you switch?

Ppl are just saying if they will switch or not. Loos like the majority that voted and posted wont.

Is it that hard to believe that ppl like Android? Like u have many ppl that like the iPhone.

Like I might see whats up with Win 7 phone. I would look at that before the iPhone IF Win 7 phones have decent specs. But it would have to be something major that I use or need or want that would make me switch back to Win Mo or go to the iPhone.

Seeing as Motorola reception has never let me down in the past 5 years, if it aint by Moto I might not look at it too hard or I will have to really test the reception for me to get it. Reception comes first, everything else is 2nd.

Anyone see that the new york times is not reporting a verizon i*hone... from an anonymous source close to Apple??

I just don't think that the iphone is coming to Verizon any time soon. I say this because of all the recent phones that have been said to be released in the coming weeks. Also the other reason is that Motorola is suing i believe apple or some manufacturer assoiciated with the iphone.

actually its funny you say that, the new york times is also reporting the iphone going to verizon...from an anonymous source...from apple :icon_eek:

better not happen ill disown the network....... and ive been vzw since 01. but we dont need the clutter

1st or 2nd quarter of 2011...i dont like the fact, but the fact is...the iphone is coming to verizon :(

There's a feeling that people on Verizon were "forced" to get an Android because the iPhone wasn't available (about 100 years ago, there was a belief that people were "forced" go into a bar because they were thirsty and the public drinking system [tin cup in a horse trough] was too unhealthy). Now, given that Apple makes computers and anyone can buy them, Windows still has the lion's share of the world's OS systems (despite the "I'm a Mac and I'm a PC" commercials).

That being said, if the iPhone had been available on Verizon, I might've had it instead of my Voyager. Now that I have a Droid, I don't think I'll go after an iPhone when it's time to get a new phone.
