Manually Update to 2.0.1

*sighs* anyone konw what the hell is wrong? Still getting this message when the exact file name of the file is "update.zip" on the home directory of the sdcard. The .zip is the file extension. So in otherwords when I unhide the file extensions on my PC the whole file name is indeed update.zip and I stil get this message...

Well, it sounds like you're doing everything right, but the signature isn't matching up... I would re-download and try again.

Also, just a shot in the dark... You're not using a Milestone are you?

I don't evne know what a Milestone is. I've redownloaded the file 3 times. The whole name of the file (with the extension added on) is "update.zip" the file isn't named "update.zip.zip" I put it on the home directory of the sdcard in no folders whatsoever (so this means it's outside of the DCIM folder) and it brings up that message. I'm restoring the phone to factory settings and wiping the sdcard to see if that works... update in 2 mins here...

Ok so I ran the download but I got the Abort message, booted up and Im running the updated firmware. Should I do it again to make sure I didnt miss anything?

Just found out. This also ROOTS the phone!!!! Verified with Astro File Explorer. Whoohuu!

This is according to "Android Phone Fans" instructions coming from Alldroid.
Once this update is installed you will be able to run "su" from your adb shell. And I don't know what that means. Just forwarding what I found.

Only 10mb??? really??, I was expecting it to be alot larger file size.
Thinking about trying it since I have not recieved official yet and for me to connect to wifi I would just be using my (verizon Mifi device) my 3g coverage is great so it should still come automatic correct???
I am worried about one thing going the route, when i go to download from the first post ie gives me warning about website's security certificate??? anyone else get this? still ok to download?

Ok.. I'm back to here again.. at the bottom I do have an error that says "Can't open /cache/recovery/command"

i got this same error message, but mine still updated. weird...anyone know what the error above means? is it bad?

I think I give up. I've downloaded the file like 5 times, did everything the insructions say and I still get that message saying faile to verify the whole-file signature, Installation aborted.

Definitely run it again. that's what happened with mine as well. Baseband version should read: C_01.3E.01P

For those not reading all of the posts... If you run the update and get an error, but find that your firmware is at 2.0.1 after rebooting... run it again.
