Manually Update to 2.0.1

I think I give up. I've downloaded the file like 5 times, did everything the insructions say and I still get that message saying faile to verify the whole-file signature, Installation aborted.

Meticode, im osrry your having issues. Just so that i understand you.. when the SD card is mounted you see the file as "update.zip" or just "update"? If its says "update.zip" rename the file to just "update". The file is already a zip file without having to put .zip at the end, unfortunately its making the droid read the file as update.zip.zip.

ok so whats gonna happen when verizon tries to send you the ota update and you already have it? i hope its nothing bad or there are going to be a lot of pissed off droid owners on this forum, 30 pages worth from what i can tell

Ok so I ran the download but I got the Abort message, booted up and Im running the updated firmware. Should I do it again to make sure I didnt miss anything?

Hey, do me a favor, when you go to Settings -> About Phone, what does it say for your Baseband version?

Baseband:C_01.3B.01P

Definitely run it again. that's what happened with mine as well. Baseband version should read: C_01.3E.01P

For those not reading all of the posts... If you run the update and get an error, but find that your firmware is at 2.0.1 after rebooting... run it again.

will do. thanks.

With the PC file extensions "unhided" the whole file name with the extension and all is just update.zip. If I hide the file extension it would be just update. It's finding the file, becuase it starts the update package, then it aborts it. When I name it something different from update.zip it doesn't find the file at all and start the update.

Try leaving off the .zip
name it simply "update"
Put it on your desktop
If the icon is the same as most zip files, continue by copying to sdcard as instucted and so on

Doesn't work. If the file is just named "update" with not file extension then the phone won't recongize the file. I don't think you understand what I'm saying. I'm not computer illteriate. I know what a .zip file is, and I know about extensions. the full file name of the file I'm putting on the file is "update.zip" which includes the file extension and all. If I delete the .zip on the end the phone simply won't even find the file. It'll say invalid directory.

Tried uninstalling Handcent...then reinstalling. That didn't help. Then I uninstalled, rebooted, then re-installed...still nothing.

Gonna wait and see if they get an update to work on the new update. So far, everything else is great. Thanks for the tips!
