Manually Update to 2.0.1

My plan was not up for a full discount - I think they just gave it to me. I think I was supposed to get $50 off or something.

Doesn't matter I bought two docs from them and they charge an arm and a leg for monthly service :)

I agree that this is the first piece of hardware in ages that I think is worth it - it's built like a tank and works great. When I pick up my Curve now it feels like a light piece of plastic.

Installed without a problem. But is it just me, or is reception worse compared to 2.0? My 3G signal is pretty bad (used to be 4 - full bars), and speeds are no where close to what it was before because now I only get 1 -2 bars.

Same thing happened to me.

Someone suggested that after the update you should update your PRL *228 and see if that helps out.

Even funnier is I didn't update and I'm getting 2 more bars! Maybe they are yours!

When i dialed *228 it took me to like the initial programming menu again. Very strange.

EDITED: Nvm it just had a new look to it, normally when i did it before it would keep the same dialpad this time it doesn't

Weird when I turned my phone on to do that I was getting full signal, but I went ahead and did the update and the screen said my phone was now activated...

everything went off without a hitch except that "key ring" decided to uninstall itself for some reason, oh and *228 might be slow if a lot of people are doing it right now, just a thought

Yeah i noticed that keyring on mine did the same thing. So i just reinstalled it. Yeah it was definitely pretty slow when i did my PRL update.

I just found out that we can manually update now cuz i haven't been on the forums

Is it safe for me to go ahead and get this ota?

What cha mean? download it straight to your driod? Others have reported sucess doing it that way and then using a manager to rename it and put in the sd root folder.

NOTICE:

manually updating a Motorola Milestone will consequence in no access to the market atm, also other functions can be corrupted.

BE CAREFULLY

I ran the update once and got everything except for the right baseband, then ran it again, and I lost all signal. I did a factory wipe and still no signal, cant do anything with it.
