Manually Update to 2.0.1

Crazy. I check the forum for the first time since yesterday afternoon and find that we have access to the update file AND can now root the Droid. Just made my day.

Just FYI, but these obviously don't have the Verizon customizations applied to them, as the Android Market no longer has the Verizon Apps tab. It's been replaced by a Downloads tab.

the hell you say it doesn't. mine has a verizon tab, which takes you to vcast apps.

How is everyone's 3G speeds? On 2.0 I would get at least 1500kbps, now with 2.0.1 its around 600kbps.

I just did it all by myself. As someone who has trouble programming her DVR, this is huge. It was very easy to do.

I definitely notice a difference in the touch responsiveness. I did have to reset my ringtones, but I can live with that. The camera quality is better, although it actually takes longer to access the card now. Not sure if that's because the camera itself is taking better pictures.

My Mac unzips the file as soon as it's downloaded. My PC will do the same thing. How are you guys downloading and not unzipping the file?

why would any browser automatically unzip a file? isn't that asking for trouble??? use a different browser or rezip the file.

Oh, I also tried to go into the Browser on the phone and download it there. Got an error saying my phone didn't support the file type. I didn't try it from phonearea though.

If you have an app installed that deals with .zip files.. ."like astro".. I think your phone may let it in.....

otherwise you may be able to go to settings -=--->applications---> and check at the top to allow unknown sources.

some download managers are set to "open with" something rather than simply download.
