More Froyo

mine came with a 800MHZ kernel

Build number 49593 test-keys...

Getting consistent 12.xx MFLOPS @ 800MHZ

Great battery life (so far)

Running at temps consistent with previous 2.1 ROM (Dark Edge)

Overall this build is running A LOT better that previous so far.

Smooth scrolling on home page/menus/settings. Apps load VERY quickly.

This runs on my device perfect.

I'll need a couple days to really solidify my opinion of it but so far it's really good.

okay I need some major help here

I'm currently on the old 2.2 build. I want to install the newer one. When I reboot my droid while holding x, to get to the recovery menu, all the phone does is stay on the motorola logo. Once I let go of x it just reboots the phone.

any ideas? :\
not sure if answered yet, too many posts :)
bet you are using rom manager, if so go and flash alternate recover then reflash clockwork recovery. if that fails uninstall/reinstall rom manager.
this happened to me yesterday.

also from rom manager even when this happens you can boot into recovery from the menu and it works.

ck, put launcher pro on it and see how much faster it will become.

also your method for moving apps2sd card ima assume the app has to be supported

I really have read everything, so don't bite my head off. :) But what's up with the two different version numbers (here, and on droid-life). I can't be the only one confused about this!

Listen is running fine for me. Haveyou tried signing into Google Reader with the account you have set up on your phone to see if it just needs to sync?

Reader is not even listed under my gmail account sync. I only have contacts, gmail, picasa, and calendar shown

I mean go to reader.google.com in your browser (phone or PC). Listen and Reader are now tied together so you might have to log into Reader once before Listen works.

I have logged into reader on both PC and phone, checked for any wierd settings that may need to be checked, rebooted, uninstalled and reinstalled reader, cleared app data, and no improvement. This was working fine yesterday on 2.1, both builds of 2.2 I have used give this error

Er, I checked like 10 pages of this thread and have yet to find an answer to this:
What the heck is changed from the original update? Besides flashlites working. >.<

new market is all i saw really and a bit more of a speed increase

lol, thats what i was trying to get them to understand, i compared the fix to the leak 2 and see where you fixed it. good job on catching it, i remember when 2.1 was released we had same issue

thats the first thing that popped in my head, when things were missing!

Everything I try is stuck at "Starting Download" Ive restarted, reapplied your fix etc. I cant get anything to download and install.

install process went as follows.

(via clockwork)
backup
wipe data twice
wipe cache
install new froyo nandroid
installed over clock kernel
install your clean black theme 1.2
install your market fix
Reboot
sync account
go to market and nothing is downloading like it did on the first build.
try to manually download and nothing.

settings>applications>manage applications>all>market>wipe cache and data

I share your confusion... It also looks like a build "49593" is floating around too. I assume these are all just different development releases, but it seems the numbers don't indicate which is newer since the first build released this weekend had a higher build number than the ones that were released last night.

Also... great to see other Pittsburgh Droid lovers!

Did anybody find that starting fresh from the older version (wiping data/cache), and moving to this new version restored very quickly. When I updated to the old it took around 30 minutes for my phone to sync up. This time it took like 5 and everything has been running flawlessly. It looks like a few kinks were worked out (maps in market, chrome to phone, smoother scrolling on web)

Here is the download links to the chrome to phone.

Downloads - chrometophone - Project Hosting on Google Code

Download the google chrome extension for browser
Download and install the apk for the phone.

Voila!

Market is now working for me. I never wiped, just flashed this leak again without a theme. Strange.
Weird. Must've been a change to Vending.apk
I wonder what else got changed since the 1st leak.

Maybe the android version number isn't supported by some of your paid apps. There was a similar problem when 2.1 was new and UD was updated with an older version number which fooled the market into thinking it was an earlier version of the android OS.

I think that apps in the market can be setup with a list of supported android OS versions. So since you are paying for the app and there is likely some support for it then the devs might be a bit more picky about controlling what versions of the OS can download the app.

So until things stablize and market apps are updated there might be some apps that don't show up.

yes the app has to be supported...

If you have titanium backup on your phone you should be able to move it to your sd card.

Pilot I will give launcher pro a shot..

Strange I cant boot into neither clockwork or sprecovery

Power off,
Power on,
Hold x key an it doesn't boot into any recovery.

Stays at the M and everything was ok until I tried to boot in for the kernel update.

If I power off and then on holding nothing I can bootup and the device turns on ok.
Any ideas?

Thanks

OK I went into ROM Manager and switched to SPRecovery and it didn't allow me to the sprecovery menu.
Just sits at the M.

Did Froyo update break this option or did something else change?X is still the letter to hold?

try holding x before powering on

No that didn't get me in either, cyling off and on M to M.
This means I cant even install a rom or re-flash!
I installed Froyo update today via clockwork recovery this morning.
Everything appeared to go smoothly until these issues were found.
What if I use RSDLite to reinstall SPRecovery... I don't want to loose all my app's and have to reinstall them again.

Thoughts?

Another strange thing is some off mt paid app's aren't showing up in the market even when I search for them.

Flash SPRecovery n0m0n...I've been telling people for some time that CW boinks installs. It's not a good way to flash Froyo.

Some people have luck with it but if you don't want to risk a bad install DO NOT use it.

SPRecovery is the best way at this time to flash 2.2.
