More Froyo

I concur with Cereal Killer. If Clockword is working for you, then great. But I had a few issues with it so I've been flashing Froyo with SPRecovery each time, and it's been flawless.

Thank you for confirming I'm not crazy, StormFreak! And hello, fellow Pittsburgher!

Hypothetical Question Here...

What if these "Leaks" are Moto's and Verizon's way of debugging the new OS before it is released OTA? Gotta admit they would save a lot of time and money having outside developers do all the grunt work then come along and DL the update change a few minor things and push it out OTA. Hmmm?

Food for thought:)

I kinda mentioned something similar last night. I shoulda did like u and said "what if" lol

I mentioned it was real strange with the Vista and Win 7 beta leaks this same type of thing was happening too. They had official and unofficial testers so to speak.

Strange I cant boot into neither clockwork or sprecovery

Power off,
Power on,
Hold x key an it doesn't boot into any recovery.

Stays at the M and everything was ok until I tried to boot in for the kernel update.

If I power off and then on holding nothing I can bootup and the device turns on ok.
Any ideas?

Thanks

OK I went into ROM Manager and switched to SPRecovery and it didn't allow me to the sprecovery menu.
Just sits at the M.

Did Froyo update break this option or did something else change?X is still the letter to hold?

I had a problem about like that and once I deleted a few of my backups from my SD card, everything started working. I had 1.5GB available but for some reason it would not let me get into the recovery mode. Working great now.

Did anybody find that starting fresh from the older version (wiping data/cache), and moving to this new version restored very quickly. When I updated to the old it took around 30 minutes for my phone to sync up. This time it took like 5 and everything has been running flawlessly. It looks like a few kinks were worked out (maps in market, chrome to phone, smoother scrolling on web)

Here is the download links to the chrome to phone.

Downloads - chrometophone - Project Hosting on Google Code

Download the google chrome extension for browser
Download and install the apk for the phone.

Voila!

Yea I noticed that too, then again I didnt wipe anything. I installed it without wiping just to see what would happen. So far so good.

Flash SPRecovery n0m0n...I've been telling people for some time that CW boinks installs. It's not a good way to flash Froyo.

Some people have luck with it but if you don't want to risk a bad install DO NOT use it.

SPRecovery is the best way at this time to flash 2.2.

I've had no issue flashing Froyo with Clockwork Recovery. Flashed the first release, the kernals, the update.zip, the baseband and then flashed the one that was just released.

A much easier process (and quicker overall) since I don't have to rename things to update.zip to flash with SPRecovery and I can use Rom manager to just select whatever I want (install Rom from SD Card).

Was a big supporter of SPRecovery initially but Clockwork is so much better now.

now in order to do this does a phone have to be rooted? I installed a leak on my old eris that wasnt so wasnt sure??

I really have read everything, so don't bite my head off. :) But what's up with the two different version numbers (here, and on droid-life). I can't be the only one confused about this!

I share your confusion... It also looks like a build "49593" is floating around too. I assume these are all just different development releases, but it seems the numbers don't indicate which is newer since the first build released this weekend had a higher build number than the ones that were released last night.

Also... great to see other Pittsburgh Droid lovers!

About the different test keys:

Is there a way to tell which one is the lastest build? Do the keys even matter?

Anybody having a problem not seeing certain apps in the market? I can't find Pure Calendar Widget or Space Physics. My other paid apps (like Bedside) loaded up right away.

Is battery life any better in this release? I only got 7.5hrs with less then 30min of Pandora listening and light use. With other roms I got 12-18hrs with 2-4 hours of Pandora and light to moderate use.

I am down to 40% right now after 3.5hrs :/

Random. I originally downloaded the Clockwork version of the install. Now I'm going with the SPRecovery version.

Woul it be best to wipe data completely and start as if it was anew?

I think once one of the other Dev's tweak this build we will see better battery life.

I used the SPrecovery install method, didn't wipe data/cache, booted up and had no issues at all, still had root, all apps were already downloaded, widgets in place and settings the same. Still running it with no problems.

The paid app issue is a bit frustrating... On the initial build of Froyo released on Saturday, Homerun Batter 3D worked just fine... On the build from last night, it no longer appears in the Market. I wish I could figure this out...

Ran some Linpack and Quadrant tests and didn't notice any gains. Yesterday with the first Froyo leak I peaked at 1407 on Quadrant, now I'm pushing 1359. I know it doesn't seem like much but I liked seeing "my device" surpassing the N1 2.2 :(
