More Froyo

After a few days and tyring to keep up with the thread I finally loaded up 2.2. Everything went smooth going from root 2.1 to 2.2. I ran into none of the issues with google maps or market that some had. I installed Root Explorer, Aoutstarts and SetCPU which can be moved to the SD card. I went ahead and moved them to the SD Card. After that I noticed that my phone slowed down on me a lot and LauncherPro Beta no longer saw the programs as installed and hence no shortcuts for them in my App draw.

Anyone notice the same thing as I?

I wouldnt recommend moving SetCPU to the SD Card and trying to use it. When I did it, the widget stopped working. Something like that probably needs to be on the phone.

I probably wouldnt try to use any apps moved to SD card right now too.

Last night the amount of lag I got from the stock browser was so bad it was unusable. I'm now using Dolphin HD and while scrolling on sites with Flash installed in them like our own was slow at least I could type at a decent speed. The standard browser was constantly freezing while I was typing. Very annoying. I got rid of droidmod for the same reason.

I still like Froyo better then 2.1 however and I'm hoping the reinstall will make things a bit smoother. We will see.

I moved it to the SD Card just to see if it would move...lol Once I saw the widget disappear, I knew something was wrong.

is it worth updating now or should I wait. Most things but a few 3rd party apps are working for me fine. So right now I think Im good till people start telling us whats newly added in certain releases. I have seen 3 or 4 I guess now but am reluctant to start over only to find out there's a newer better one out again in a few days.

That or i'll wait for Pete's BB release for froyo.

It's worth the update now.

Yea Hook, I like Froyo better right now too. I'm sticking with it just for Flash and chrome to phone. I used chrome to phone to download the new baseband to my phone. I love having an easier way to download straight to the phone.

*there is a new app out for 2.1 users similar to chrome to phone called Link Push*

Have you run Xscope or Skyfire Hook? Both are smooth as silk..... especially Skyfire

Wifi Indicator not functioning?

I tried searching so don't flame me...

I'm running 33333 with P3's 1ghz kernel and the newest baseband. Everything runs great and works perfectly at this point. The market is fine, I've got my gmail, corporate exchange (love the combined calendars), set cpu with my profiles, everything is set up pretty much exactly like I had it with CM 5.0.7.1, battery life is pretty good today (was terrible yesterday 1st day), all is great, except...

My wifi icon on top, the ball is white, the bars are all grey. Wifi works. Tether for root even works. My mobile signal indicator works right. It's just the wifi strength is not indicated.

Anybody come across that yet? Should I try a different kernel (was thinking about speeding up to 1.2 anyway).

Thoughts?

Thanks, and thanks for everyone who got this out there, and fixed all the glitches, because until there's a CM or BB built from 2.2 source, this is pretty much the best thing you can run. At 1.0 ghz my Linpack is 15.828 and my Quadrant is 1216 and it's stable as anything else I've used.

Yeah but patience is a virtue. :)

Just an FYI - I was checking out the Cyanogen site and found out that as of about 6:30 last night the ver 2.2 (FRF57) is out on Rom Manager. Look under Download ROM > Stock Images > Verizon Droid 2.2 Froyo leak. Also have the baseband updates there as well.

Has anyone tried Wavesecure with Froyo? Specifically the .apk version that is installed into the system folder and not the market download version? I really want to install froyo, but am concerned how it will work with Wavesecure and Touchdown. I figure touchdown should be okay as it is a market app, but the version of wavesecure I am running was installed via my CPU into the system folder so its part of the system. And if I use the froyo root backup version will I lose the wavesecure?

Thanks

Just installed the latest on my 3rd Moto droid

and I dont see any difference in performance and whatknot for things I use so Im going to wait on updating the one I use most. Its rock solid now and I have most things themed already is why I asked earlier about updating it.

I still think when fully themed and setup the way I like things 2.1 BBv1.1 was just as fast many will argue but I've been testing on many of my phones and still have my fastest install of BBv1.1 on my older droid, I've gotten one as a hand me down from a friend that switched to tmoble for his N1, which I find slower than my overclocked droid. He's pissed about it cause he had the droid and was afraid to overclock it.

as for the N1 against the stock Incredible I find the N1 is faster im sure this is due to what many like about the incredible the sence UI. I personally dont really like it. I do like a few of the widgets, if I could use them with sweeter home I may like it more since I could put all the full page widgets on there own springboard.

Wow I'm having real battery issues. Less then 4 hours and my battery was sucked dry! Just surfed a couple of sites and checked email.

Put my wife's battery in my Droid now and its down to 80 percent. Wifi is off and using limited apps.

But loving this Froyo anyways. Though this battery issue could be a deal breaker.

Hi hook,

Really enjoying this, just installed wi fi tether for the heck of it.

You are right.

I have been lurking around, but the keys shown really do not matter, there are currently two froyo builds out there:

the first one in which (for example) mototorch (app and widget) will NOT work.

The second one, in which case it DOES work.

So heck, if one is confused, put it in and see.

I have the second one now.

had the same issue the first day with the older frf47 release. let it run down completely dead to actually turn the device off. then fully charge it without ever unplugging it and see what you get. there is a battery calibration file forget what it is but until it is in sync and refresh for highs and lows things seem to act weird to say the least.

This didn't happen with the first version of Froyo, but with this version using my Blue Ant Q1 headsets in order to reach the phone I had to say "contacts," then the head set activated voice dialing from the phone. I heard a voice say "speak now" and then I was able to reach my contacts.

This will be a little known piece of information that will get buried in this thread but you never know who may see it.

I do not have a blue ant headset, but a plantronics headset. Normally I would triple tap the headset button to activated voice dialing, but called my aunt 3 times. So I did a long press and sure enough I heard a voice say, speak now on my Droid running the latest froyo.
