More Froyo

So, any news on when the OTA update might be coming out? I really would rather wait for the official release, and it seems speculation and news had completely dried up since this froyo rom was released.

My gallery folders take FOREVER to load. Like..FOREVER

I just tried the gallery to view my drocap pics. Loads fine for me. But loading pics from the drocap folder takes forever. And if I delete a screenshot, slideshow view gets messed up if loading the pic from the folder.

Doing everything from the gallery app, no prolem.

Strange.

It seems you're right. We're a little off topic but nobody has any idea now as to when the real 2.2 comes out.

A lot of my "speculating" turned out to be about this version of froyo, not the final. I now have no idea.

I have the paid version of xscope and I was really disappointed with flash playback. really choppy, etc. I tried Dolphin HD today, and The Office on TBS plays butter smooth.

I'd rather not have 3 browsers on my phone, but playing full shows on my phone is pretty sweet.

Mine does that too

Gallery is so slow to load and from what I see on my few phones is the newr release is even slower to load up, once fully loaded it feels about the same going to run a test on it now. running the same 1.2kernal I had on the older release.
anyone else seeing the latest release is slower, or should I start over again and wipe 3 times again ?

I dont understand I rebooted 2 times in a row I still can run a test it errors out. first time I see this is on this latest release.

Ok I fixed it by reinstalling the program but still running slower than the older one great tried to run it again and the phone rebooted wtf this newer release is worse than the older one

test score on the latest release

Much slower :(
look at my sig to see my usual speeds with the original release and about the same with BBv2.1

Not to mention I didn't even theme this one yet. Most say themes slow it down, I never noticed that myself.

I am experiencing the same thing. And I can not run the Fix Permissions option in ROM Manager.

Fix permission in ROM Manager will not work it is for 2.1 ROM, not Froyo.

As for folks trying to install setCPU to the sdcard make sure you have the most current version 1.5.4 I moved it on mine and it works perfectly fine. Only thing that will not work is the widget which is no concern to me as I don't use it anyways. Wastes battery IMO

Fix permissions works just fine for me on 2.2...

Just move busybox to /bin under /system.

true but only if you busybox in /bin which is where it is not needed or suppose to be from everything I've ever been told. Belongs in /xbin. And IMO there is no reason to have busybox in 2 places as it just wastes space. To each is to there own tho

This might be a dumb question, but where do I find it to move it?

Late summer from what I've been told. Shadow/xtreme and Droid 2 will supposedly release before 2.2 gets rolled out. So everyone has a while before they will see if from VZW/Moto

heres another test

Thist is after a reboot and making sure I didn't start anything extra

Oh this is on my second Moto droid as You can see this one is theme'd some. I dont get it.
My other one with all my tweaks and all still runs faster.

Droid root helper is needed to install busybox my friend!

The applications that i already have arw not showing in the marked, not even after running the market update fix.

What about the sdcard bug? I cannot import the contacts. Is looking for an svcard and not sdcar.

I cannot download files from the web like zip files, it says files not supported.

Froyo is like windows vista so far, is too new to experimement with it...

I think I got it. Used instructions here

great life here, close to what skull's getting light use pulls me about 40hrs. a few 5 min calls, close to an hour of web surfing, and and hour of reading aldiko. BB1.1 used to only get 26hrs
Wow I'm having real battery issues. Less then 4 hours and my battery was sucked dry! Just surfed a couple of sites and checked email.

Put my wife's battery in my Droid now and its down to 80 percent. Wifi is off and using limited apps.

But loving this Froyo anyways. Though this battery issue could be a deal breaker.

Battery life is horrendous (compared to what I'm used too) so I had to dump Froyo into the garbage disposal. Not worth it to me.

Not to mention its pretty plain after being on Dark Edge.

Got my taste of it and ill wait for some other builds to be released.

Wow, I am seeing the exact opposite. I am getting 6 hours of sleep/standby for every 10% battery drop and about 40 to 45 minutes of wifi web surfing per 10% battery drop.

Currently running the 7 slot 1Ghz kernel under 2.2 Beta 2 (as I call it).

Just installed the new baseband update this morning to see how that affects battery life.

You can install busybox from Titanium Backup. Just click on the "Problems?" button and it will lead you to the latest busybox.

I cannot import the contacts.

Your contact should automatically be restored from your Google account.

Download Astro File Manager. In the preferences, under "look and feel", enable the box to allow the browser to download all file types.

As for not being able to find Root Explorer in the market, the market has been busy lately on Google's end. Try going to the application manager, force stop the Market app, then clear its cache and data, then open Market again. If that doesn't do it, then try again later (up to 24 hours); it may be Google's fault. Oh, and don't count on it automatically reinstalling, but you may be able to find it with a search later today or tomorrow.
