More Froyo

first release

Just loaded it up to test it out and sure enough got my speed back went back to the newer release on yet another of my 3 motorola droids and boom its slow again
not sure whats going on, but from my experience here on my phones the original release tweaked is about equal to my BBv1.1 speeds still everyone says its so fast and Im having issues if its not. 3 phones here and from my experience I still think the old release is better but my most stable working phone still has petes BBv1.1.

I'll answer your question if you answer mine. You do have to have the higher voltage kernel installed. Now tell me how you know it's running and where you see 600.

Yes sir, mr. Hook

When I look at the setCPU widget I see 600 and when I tap it and go to set it it shows 600 and the slider only goes to 600.
Does this help?

Well, I'm not running the widget. And from what I understand where I have it installed I can't run the widget. OK, I'll take a look thanks.

hook either use the widget or go into the setcpu app itself itshould say 600 max 250 min to get more speed move the max bar tp either 800, 900, 1000

It appears most of my issues were because I didn't have setCPU working correctly. I had to drag the speed lower then 400 then move it to 1000. Bam, everything change, speed on the internet increased.

Well, you live and learn. Now at least I understand why it appeared to be running slow on me.

Quick Q - someone please help :)

Yep, I'm an OLD neewbie...

I loaded the latest build of Froyo right after it came out (via ASTRO, not as an UPDATE.zip) and just noticed today that my setCPU is topped out at 600. Do I need to go in and add the 1.25g file again on top of the new build??
Thanks for helping an old dense fart out.

if you have new kenel installed click menu button on phone-device selection-then auto detect speeds. it will check for root access and load new kernels info.

Running the second Froyo leak...I ran the market update.zip fix which gave me my apps back but the Marketplace is slow to the point of being unusable...

Very frustrating, and it's been almost 24 hours since installing. I've also tried clearing the cache but I have never had this problem before.

Any ideas?

The market has been acting up the last few days, and Google had admitted this. Therefore, it has been difficult to pinpoint whether the problems some are experiencing are caused by the Froyo build or the market.

Here's something that worked for me on the first Froyo build from Saturday:
From the home screen press the menu button and go to SETTINGS > PRIVACY. Uncheck the box "Automatic restore", then uncheck the box called "Back up my settings". Hit the back button to take you back to the home screen. Now start the market and see if that helped. After you've done this, you can go back to the privacy settings and re-enable back up & restore.

The slider goes to 1ghz when I do that but speed of the phone is still tapping out at 600 mhz. I have a 1ghz kernel installed, and we know thats there because it auto detected. Why isn't my speed increasing?

if using on demand profile nothing may be calling to ramp it up.
if you want to force full pseed all the time choose perfomance option under profiles.
I run on demand usually, seems best overall.

To run at 1000 would I need a voltage kernel
I am pretty sure most high-clock kernels have the voltage management built right in? I know P3Droids kernels have an amazing low voltage...

Thank you and what would cause my launcher to force close and what's a safe temp for the CPU at 1000
Try ADW or Launcher pro from the market. The arm can take some amazing temps, but I run at 800Mhz for daily use and only bump it to a 1000MHz for performance demands. You should be fine.

Did you set it to performance or ondemand?

change your cpu governor to ondemand or performance.

OK, I have a problem:

I downloaded the Froyo FRF57 from Droid-life.com and it keeps freezing my phone. so I stopped sync, and got it to run, although very very slowly. I installed set cpu and overclocked (800mhz) and it still ran incredibly slowly. after this I restored my apps, and everything continued to run, still very slowly until I ran LauncherPro, at which point the freezing began again and Froyo became completely useless to me.

Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong? I'm lost on this, and quite frankly, I'm very frustrated that I've asked on other forums, and the only response I get is "just forget about it, Bugless Beast 2.2 will be here soon enough" and etc.

so...any help would be greatly appreciated.

Much Love.
