More Froyo

did you change the folder permssion to rw (rewriteable)

I don't know if anyone else noticed, but there's a new "default" bootanimation with Froyo and it looks pretty neat! Mount your /system partition and delete the default Droid eye from /system/media/bootanimation.zip

I get the message that I cannot delete the file. what am I doing wrong?

Thanks for all of your help! I got it now. I do prefer the "ANDROID" glow to the eye.:)

The word "Droid" that kind of shimmers left to right? I'm a little surprised that is the default - I thought the "Droid" naming was a motorola/verizon thing, not a Google AndroidOS thing.

I agree, I hate the eye and always delete the bootanimation.zip for the clean "Android" boot up, the 2.2 mirrored one is quite an improvement over the 2.1 blue font one

The only phone that can run this version of Froyo 2.2 is the Motorola Droid. The only thing that carries over from phone to phone is the APKs. The boot code, kernel and OS are complied specifically for each phone.

I have never modded/hacked/rooted my Droid due to bad luck with phones. Anyway, I followed this guide (http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...royo-step-step-installation-2.html#post528613) because of all the great things I had heard about this 2.2 build and wow.....it was easy....it's pretty stable and its like my phone was put on greased rails...... so fast compared to my sluggish 2.1 running helix launcher 2.....

add launcherpro and see how it really can fly.

Is root explorer the only way to delete this file or is there another free explorer app out there that can handle root?

If you don't want to pay, get terminal emulator and

su
mount -remount,rw -yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
rm /system/media/bootanimation.zip
mount -remount,ro -yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
sync
reboot

Is any one having problems trying to reboot on recovery mode when you are flashed CW?
Or using TB and Rom manager? rom manager I have noticed 2 problems;
# 1 can reboot to recovery mode.
# 2 when I click on fix permissions I get some type of error

Nope....can boot into recovery just fine. Try flashing an older version of recovery and then flashing the latest.

I also used Titanium Backup to install Busybox then used Root Explorer to put copies of BusyBox in System/bin and system/xbin.

Fix Permissions ran fine after this.

Plus I did not see to be able to use flash player.
I went to freegames.com and I wasn’t able to open any game!!!!

Can some one tell me a good reason why should I go from 2.1 black droid to froyo 2.2?
I have noticed only one good think. Automatic updates and flash but flash is not even working for me.

SO beside the automatic updates what else is on this room that is better than what I already have?

Cuss Ultimate droid (BL) and launcher pro makes my phone work so fast. I can call it problems less.

Any advice please thanks.
