More Froyo

I just noticed I'm not able to download files in the browser directly to the phone, by clicking on a download link (.zip files, xls). I know I could do this on Pete's 1.1. Is there something that needs to be enabled to allow this, or is it a known issue?

get downloadcrutch lite from the market...works perfect with the stock browser

thanks but
downloadcrutch, downloadcrutch lite, and download crutch don't come up in the market....

Good Bye For Now Mr. Froyo...

Mr Froyo,
Our friendship over the past week as been pretty cool. You brought me some pretty neat things like Flash, Chrome To Phone, Speed, and just a really nice interface to have on the 'ol Droid. Actually, my Droid has not been this happy since I took it out of the box.

But Mr. Froyo, like with any relationship, things come up, things change and though you have given me everything I've wanted, you have not given me one of the most important things that I need. Battery life!

Yes, Mr. Froyo, BATTERY LIFE. For without my battery I can't use all of your really cool things. No matter what I've tried I can't seem to get you to work for more than 4-5 hours at a time. Sorry, this is a deal breaker for me.

When I know that your battery life has changed to a better lifespan I will be back with you jumping for joy! But until then, I must leave you Mr. Froyo. I must go back to a 2.1 rom that has battery life that I can get at least 24 hours out of.

Thanks again for all the fun you've given me. I hope to see you again soon.

(In all honestly, the battery life just sucks on this thing - I need to have more than 4-5 hours of life).

Did u try P3's newer kernels? He has some that the min is 125mhz. Those would be better on the battery.

There was a write up in http://www.droidforums.net/forum/hacking-faqs/47871-overclocking-101-a.html#post507818

and his newer kernels are here:

Froyo Overclocked Kernels includes *wifi* fix

He has some newer kernels I dont think too many ppl know.

Or some by another person? Chevy1 did some Froyo kernels that some ppl like:

I get 4-5 hours of life out of it in constant use. If you're using it constantly this is to be expected. It's not that much different IMHO then 2.1.

I have the LG Ally and I am trying to load Froyo on it. I just have one little hitch.

I know that if I hold down up or down volume and home while powering on it will do a factory reset but I cannot seem to figure out how to get it in loader mode. I tried the way listed in the guide but it doesn't seem to work for the Ally.

I would greatly appreciate any input on this issue.

Welcome. This is the Droid Forum and the update that is available is for the Moto Droid, not the LG Ally. You'll probably brick your phone trying to load that in there.

Well nuts...thought since it ran Droid 2.1-update 1 I could get it on there. Guess I gotta wait for Verizon to get off their rump and actually put the update out for the phone.

OK....You've got my curiosity up. Explain how you ran the Droid 2.1 update to your LG Ally. Are you sure that the update you received wasn't specifically for your Android device?
