freaked out about froyo rom

I have been waiting for google to do ota updates to 2.2. anyone know when this will happen. I admit I am a little freaked out about trying to manually do this. Seems a lot of people are having problems if you read these forums. any suggestions on when the ota will happen or do I need to bite the bullet?

im running a chevyno1 low voltage 1.2 ghz rom and have had no problems.

So, when 2.2 retail hits will someone be able to make a pre-rooted rom for us to load? Also, if I want to check out retail 2.2 can I just restore my 2.1 backup from sprecovery and the update will be pushed to me?

Actually some of my customers have gotten the push from Verizon to 2.2 for their Droids. So it's rolling out now in waves from what I have been told.

Also to the person who told me not to put 2.2 on my Ally, you saved my phone. I owe you one. A bud I know did it and bricked his phone. No possible chance of recovery. Fortunately, he had insurance.

Can we get some verification of this? Also, is the source code available yet? I've been waiting for the 2.2 OTA so I can update with as few issues as possible. I like stock. Not that I want to give up root to get it, mind you.

Are you serious? I can't believe the OTA would roll out so quickly.

As much as i want to believe this, i kinda doubt it. It would make sense for google to update their nexus one first, since it is the google phone. Plus, staff from motorola verified that the Motorola Droid would get 2.2 after the nexus one.

Considering no one anywhere on the entire internet that knows anything about the motorola droid is reporting it, it is a very safe bet it is not.

I had three customers come in today asking what was this update that kept showing up on their phones.

After it installed it showed 2.2. So maybe Verizon is tossing it out early in front of the Iphone 4. I don't know, I just know what their screens were showing.

A limited test release would make sense. They did it with the 2.1 OTA, and that's one reason it took so long -- the first release hit some snags (read, bugs) that in-house testing hadn't identified.

Big V is a tease.
