More Froyo

I had three customers come in today asking what was this update that kept showing up on their phones.

After it installed it showed 2.2. So maybe Verizon is tossing it out early in front of the Iphone 4. I don't know, I just know what their screens were showing.

A limited test release would make sense. They did it with the 2.1 OTA, and that's one reason it took so long -- the first release hit some snags (read, bugs) that in-house testing hadn't identified.

Big V is a tease.

Well, I don't know if this goes by region, but if it does I guess they're not doing it here. My Droid still says "your system is currently up to date".

^It will say that until the 2.2 update has been officially released to all Droid owners. Even if the update was pushed out today, your system will say it is up to date until it's your turn to receive the update.

Unless you have OTA updates blocked, of course, in which case it'll say your system is up to date from now till doomsday.

Look at hook...:)

Now u know everybody's gonna miss this like Beta 2 unless u make a post in the news section or something.

Naw, this isn't the only post. I just merged a couple of them together. I thought I'd give everyone a heads up over here.

I didn't know you could do that; I'm also not sure why you would want to. There is a lot more I don't know I am sure :).

It's popular among ROMS because any OTA update causes you to lose root. As such, I'm sure all the current leaked-froyo-based-ROMS have OTA updates blocked.

And just in case mentioning froyo doesn't keep this on topic...

How about that JIT? Is it going to be awesome or what?:)

Crap I forgot to add this to my previous post

I have 157mb free right now.

how the hell do you have 157mb free?? what rom are you running? The most ive ever had free on bootup was 100mb on petes newest 2.1 BB. I usually hover around 35-50mb free, I only have three home screens but I use a lot of widgets. my memory widget currently says I have 43mb available, 76mb active and 80mb inactive.

Still waiting for update.zip file. I refuse to root and I don't run windows.

Then these ROMs are not for you as they are pre-rooted. Also, don't you need at least SPRecovery to push an update.zip onto your phone anyway?

True, which you need a PC to run RSD Lite. Well, you can't do it with a virtual machine. I'll bet you could with boot camp and a Windows OS installed on a Mac.
