More Froyo

The cheating on your wife...
Hmmmm not really sure its a good analogy!

I think it's perfect, actually. Verizon forces you into a marriage so you can play with the servant girl. :D

I just hope V and Motorola get us our official Froyo release soon. I just know that, as soon as I get too fed up with waiting and flash the ROM from the OP back onto my phone, the OTA will be pushed out to us the next day, forcing me to set my phone back up again as soon as I can and keep root.

Does anyone think there will be a simple "stock plus root" update.zip like there was for 2.1? A big thanks out to Pete for making that one!:icon_ banana:

Just read somewhere that it is believed that the Droid will get 2.2 2 weeks after the Xtreme is released.
Thats unofficial but it makes sense since they want you all to buy new 2 year commitmtnes and then service the existing customerbase.

Google Android 2.2: Will Your Smartphone Get FroYo? : Product Reviews Net

Everyone -- Google, Motorola, Verizon, etc, has been saying the Droid 1 will get the update before anyone else now that the Nexus 1 has it. If they don't release it before they release a new phone running 2.2 there will be an outcry that will shake the heavens. Probably won't change much, but Verizon can't afford to piss off their customers, Google doesn't want to lose the good chunk of good will it will cost them, and Motorola will start looking like a second-tier phone maker. They only just got over that perception, and have had enough trouble trying to remain afloat in a bloated market (cell phone manufacturing), if what I've read in the business news in the past few months is true.

As such, with the leaked RCs (which I suspect was a combination of shutting up the most vocal complainers and free beta-testing, though it may have cost someone a job -- I hope not) coming out so soon after Nexus 1 got its full OTA update, and two RCs leaking so close together, it should be VERY near release. Toss in the report of seeing some Froyo updates in the wild and it seems like it might be close enough to taste.

Of course, Hook seems to have missed his estimate as to when the official release will happen by about 5 minutes at this point, so predictions are iffy at best. Now, it's possible the holdup's been on Adobe's part -- hardware support for the Droid -- and Moto won't release until Flash is ready, or V won't push it through till then, but that doesn't seem right. Froyo supports Flash, Flash just isn't finished, you know?

Anyway, here's hoping it's soon!

My thoughts exactly, except I haven't rooted yet (long story).

Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk

I am told the release is coming soon as well as a patch for the Incredible very soon, but the date is still not locked in....

For those who want to wait it out. i would bet buy mid July we could see the rollout start

Sorry if this has been asked a million times, but for us that are rooted and have updated to 2.2 manually. What do we do when the Official OTA comes out? How do we block that OTA?

For some reason ppl are claining ou can go FROYO without rooting and thats just not TRUE!

There is a pre-root option, and a post root option, no no-root option.

:))))
I have never been rooted before Froyo and I installed it without rooting my Droid.
I even made a guide on how to do it.

Upgrade to Froyo from the link below in your post?

SPRecovery Installed
Stock 2.2 Froyo with root installed

I thought SPRecovery was not stock?
Device will be root'ed without busybox?

I think Verizon would feel its not non-rooted.

You agree?
Yea it will be rooted after Froyo is installed.
You said you need to be rooted to install Froyo.
I don't use busybox.

You can unroot your phone.

It is not blocked now. So you will get the pop up. With SP recovery installed just click yes. SP will block the update unless you hit the allow button once inside recovery

Anyone have a solution to the horrid battery life with froyo? Mine goes dead just sitting idle withing a few hrs?:icon_evil:

yup using the second leak and the latest baseband, I even reinstalled and left my screens blank, man I really like everything else about froyo too, I know this is a RC but man just seems odd for it to die so fast

I'm using a Chevy kernel with mine set to 550MHz Max and Min 250.
I haven't updated the baseband and it's been 1d 0h 26m.
I still have 60% battery life left.

Well im not looking for extreme battery life just atleast get me thu the day would be fine, ive tried diff kernals as well no difference, and im only at 900mhz .

Also using the ULV kernel.
