Motorola Droid Maintenance Release Prelude to Android 2.1

I know of 2 people that went with the HTC eris because they believe HTC will aggressively keep their equipment updated....One of those individuals works for verizon.

Motorola is allowing rumors control the news.....

I hope Motorola knows what their doing and attempts to change the growing negative perception.....I love this phone and don't want it to become irrelevant in the next few months....

I bet is just a rooted droid programed to chang the model/fermwhere version just to piss ppl off because he's not telling where he got it.

no - it's legit... I mean, he promised, so now it HAS to be true right?

And no, just cause he wont release it doesn't mean it's fake... if he released it, someone would get in trouble - because its IMPOSSIBLE to release something anonymously on the internet, right?

LOL things like this drive me nuts... basically it's "Trust me!" - this kid is gonna grow up to sell used cars, I just know it!

Take care,
Rob

Just because he promised doesn't mean anything I could promis I'm a millionaire but it doesn't mean I'm telling the truth.

Alright, I have a theory......

According to Motorola's own timeline, they lead us to believe that the Droid will receive the update before the Milestone. They also have the Milestone listed as receiving the update during the 1st quarter (by the end of March). Motorola will probably have to release a statement roughly a week in advance to make sure everyone is ready r 2.1.

That gives us roughly a 2 to 3 week window. I suspect, if Motorola sticks by their timetable, that milestone will receive update during the last 2 weeks of March. That leaves droid owners the beginning of March....

I have a sneaking suspicion that we're going to receive at least a press release this week.

any other theories out there??? like soon may mean by the end of the year :icon_eek:

ps......if you don't care or are sick of the 2.1 talk, please move on....still very excited and cant wait...

I like your suspicions! I hope that soon does NOT mean by the end of the year:icon_eek: I am still very excited and can't wait either!:icon_ banana:

Anyone ask Verizon instead of constantly pointing fingers at Motorola? Verizon has to test it and send it out to everyone, Moto can't just flip a switch.

Do you guys really care at this point? Seriously?
The only 2.1 I care about is the one released to the wild. Screw Moto, screw Verizon.
The Droid is a buggy open-source device and we all knew it going in. The corporate update won't fix it, but the awesome guru dev community will.

That's what I'm waiting for.

If your checking this post...doesn't it mean that you care as well? We all care a bit, just not as excited..tired of being excited.

Yeah screw those guys who made it possible to carry a super small device that makes it easy to make calls and browse the internet from anywhere wirelessly!!! (sarcasm)

Without out these companies doing what they do there would be no programs for the dev community to tweak!

I remember carrying a bag phone paying $1.99 a minute for spotty service!:icon_eek:

Not all people want to root and mess with their phone, they would like official 2.1 so they dont have to worry about anything and have a current OS without all the hassel of rooting. I am not against it, I just dont want to do it so I am awaiting 2.1 with excitement:icon_ banana:
