Unless Hollywood67 purchased the Bionic subsidized last early last July (????) VZW needs to honor the warranty period regardless if the Bionic is no longer available. You should not have to give up your unlimited data if you are within the 12 month warranty period. On the 366th day yes but no way before then. Am I missing something here?

U missed the part where he dropped his phone and cracked the screen. Warranty void now only way to get it replaced is by another or if he had insurance on it.

This would be correct. His only options are 1 insurance claim if you have it. 2 buy a bionic screen fix kit and do it yourself. 3 buy certified used phone. 4 find a cell repair shop. All will require $$ and time.
Been on. 235 now a few weeks and it has been rock solid. The other day I dropped my phone and cracked my screen up pretty good. Once I came down off the ledge, I called big Red to see what my options were. I didnt want to give up the bionic, but they said they didnt have anymore. I kind of figured that but what comes next was hard to take.
VZW told me that they were going to phase out those of us with unlimited data! The rep said that from now on with the purchase of a new phone/upgrade you have to move to a newer plan. All plans will now have unlimited talk/text and a limit on data usage.
After about 45 minutes of discussing/arguing I was done.
Have anyone else heard about this? I thought being grandfathered in meant we would be good. What are they thinking?
I had a similar situation about six months ago.I had the DROID x that I destroyed and I went to verizon to see what they could do. I was passed my warranty and I wasn't due for an upgrade until September. they told me they would let me upgrade early on a subsidized phone and obviously lose my unlimited data. so I went on Craigslist and found a bionic(still on 9 months warranty!) for 250. allowing me to keep my unlimited dancedroid
The 905 FXZ has been out since 235 was released. So, 902 never enters the picture. And certainly doesn't with my House of Bionic tool. It allows you to temporarily drop back to 905 for the sole purpose of being able to apply the next update. With no data loss in between. 905 is never even booted...only parts of it are flashed to satisfy the update's requirements to install.

When 232 was released there was no need for the 905 FXZ so it wasn't available. 235 required us to have the 905 FXZ in order to be able to move forward so I went and asked for it and got it. Since then, any process to move to 902 and then manually update to 905 is obsolete.

Well I didnt have the insurance so I thought I would shop around a bit for a replacement, but I wasnt willing to spend too much and relinquish my unlimited plan.
Researched how to fix myself and where to buy a kit. In the end I decided not to wait for the kit to arrive and I found a local repair shop. They fixed me up in less than an hour.
