New Unlimited Plan from Big Red?

No one can say with a hundred percent certainty what will happen when tiered data hits. Even VZW employees probably won't know the specifics until that week. VZW likes us to be in the dark.

Actually you can. So long as you are in an unlimited plan when VZW turns to a tiered plan system you will stay in an unlimited plan. HOWEVER you will not be able to get any subsidized phones or make edits to your plan from then on out as that woudl constitute a plan change and thus change your plan into one with tiered data...

Theoretically, yes. Hopefully this is the case! But if VZW has proven anything over the past several months, it's "We do what we want, when we want it, and how we want it." I don't put anything past them anymore.

You are in a contract and as such they legally can not change your payment terms. They can change some other items such as incentives, subsidies, and such but can not change your pricing...

You are correct, but I think we are discussing two different topics... The discount is not written into the contract. I was answering the question regarding whether or not they would do away with the discount. Obviously, the unlimited plan cannot be changed willy-nilly...

I have two Thunderbolts, two Incredible 1's, and one Moto Droid 1 and still have the discount. It was a little tricky because I had activated the Incredibles on lines that had Blackberries, so the discount dropped off since I was switching data plans and I had to call in to have the inactive discount re-applied. The line with the Moto Droid 1 was a non-smartphone with unlimited data, so that discount had to be added back as well.

I called and asked about changing over and the rep told me I could but I would have to apply for the discount to be put back on the line. I'm just wondering if anyone else has done this? I wonder if they'll be willing to add it back on after July 7th? I can't upgrade at a discount until August so I just need to wait and see. 4G won't be in my area until who knows when, so it's dumb to spend a lot of $$ on a phone now anyway. If it does transfer over now but it won't transfer after July 7th, then I would rather spend the $$ and get the unlimited 4G then to have a cap later.

I had three phones on the account when I signed up for the promo -- a Droid1 and two regular "feature" phones. About a month after getting the family data plan, I upgraded one phone to a DroidX and luckily the promo was still being offered because the rep removed the $20 data discount and added a $10 "texting" promo or something. I had to plead with marketing to add the discount plan back, which they were only able to do because they were still offering the promo at the time.

Since then I have upgraded my line to a T-Bolt, and moved the Droid1 over to my wife's number. I had to make sure NOT to use the automatic activation each time. I spoke to a rep with each activation and made sure they knew I had a special promo on my account that I did NOT want to lose and I did NOT want them to add any other promos that might knock that one out.

So I have 4G on the T-Bolt and still have the promo. I don't know what I'm going to do when the promo is up, but with unlimited plans going away, I'm sure I'll just suck up the price increase and hope eventually they offer a reasonable family data plan.

I have that too, verizon has a promo that if you are on a1400 family share with a minimum of two data unlimited packages you qualify for a$20 discount on each package so you will pay $10 for unlimited on each package

Idk if its still going on I just called but I can't get a hold of a human being I keep getting transferred to that machine that's says they offer full support during the day but yes thats what I did about 5 months ago just called and asked for it the first rep didn't know what I was talking about then I called again and the next one did
