I do not have the new promo so i can not speak fully about it but yes so far as I know it is a short term $10 off of your data potion bringing you down to $20 as opposed to the $30 you would normally pay. It lasts up to a year and then is gone from your account. If they are smart then the next promo would be like this family and friends one wa sin a way in that we had to change our plan to get on it and thus that woudl remove you from the grandfathering in of data...

The plan that I have was the December promo for $20 off each line that had smartphone data. Not every line needed to have it but you only got the promo on those lines that did in fact have it already. I know some added it to feature phones just so that they could have this promo when they upgraded in the future...

Not true. Just got in on this. 9.99 promotional credit applied for the next 12 months. I'm currently in a month to month so i got extended 1 year.

She also said that if i go to 4g after 7/7, i get to keep the unlimited data (29.99)

Just as anuraji said it IS true. You are gettign a new form of promo and getting simply $10 off where as the rest of us all got $20 off each data line bringing the total cost of data for us to $10 a month with no end date either. So now that we will be grandfathered in I get 3G and 4G for all of $10 a line for the wife and I

Not sure why you posted in this thread to begin with but that person is an idiot that you talked to. VZW does not differentiate between 3G or 4G data plans and as such you are grandfathered in for unlimited data so long as you have smart phone data plan now.

The exact opposite of what I learned.

You do have to be warned that they really want you to change so they will tell you anything to make that happen.

Lots of people did. I think that's one of the only reasons that the Thunderbolt and Charge have sold as much as they have. I feel bad for some of the people, but even after it was known that we'd be grandfathered, folks were still running out to buy them.

I got in on this plan and one my 5 lines is due an upgrade in August...from reading the last page it looks like by upgrading phones nothing will change on my plan? I hope that is the case, its a sweet deal. ..dont really want to mess with anything just for a new phone but I do have the original droid so looking forward to an upgrade if nothing else changes.

Sorry to bump such an old thread.

I'm on a plan with my family (Droid 2, Incredible, Chocolate Touch, Chocolate Touch) and we are paying $160 with this unlimited deal. If my parents want to upgrade to a smartphone, would they still have to pay an extra $30 each still?
