New Unlimited Plan from Big Red?

The promotion was offered from the beginning/middle of November until somewhere around the middle/end of January. It did require that you extended your contract one year from the date of the promotion being added. And with family share plans, you got a $20 discount per line for data for every line in the plan, so for myself, I got $100 off since my plan has 5 lines.

What's nice about this plan is that it is permanent. It just survived several contract changes that I made. Including raising and then lowering the minutes and updating the line. In the system it says we have the promo until 2038. Which according to the rep, means forever because the system only goes to 2038. Pretty sweet!

What gets a little tricky is when you switch data plans (i.e. go from an unlimited BB to unlimited non-BB phone) the discount will drop off. While the promotion was still going on, the discount would have been automatically put back on because the system would have seen that you added an unlimited data plan, but now that the promotion is no longer around, once the switch happens and the discount drops off, you have to call in and they have to request that the expired promotion be put back on.

This happened to me three times in March, when I switched two Blackberries to Androids and when I switched from a feature phone to an Android.

Anyone else switched to 4G who was able to keep this unlimited plan?

Since then I have upgraded my line to a T-Bolt, and moved the Droid1 over to my wife's number. I had to make sure NOT to use the automatic activation each time. I spoke to a rep with each activation and made sure they knew I had a special promo on my account that I did NOT want to lose and I did NOT want them to add any other promos that might knock that one out.

Did you call the number for the promo or just a verizon rep?

Any time I've done an upgrade they drop the promo and I had to call to get it back, but that was when they still offered it. How did you get them to keep it during the change from 3g to 4g after the promo ended?

Anyway, after reading several posts I'm comfortable that we'll be grandfathered into unlimited, but I'm worried they won't keep the $20 per line discount if I change to 4g. We won't have 4g in our area for a while, but I wonder if I should get a 4g phone before July 7 to keep the discount.

I used the automated way to upgrade my 3G to TB phone and then to change my wife's D1 to mine since her's is acting up. NO issues with discount or anything plan remained the same.

Going from a 3G Android to a 4G Android doesn't drop the discount. The discount only drops if you are removing your existing data plan and replacing it with another.

I upgraded one line from an OG Droid to the Thunderbolt, and a second line from a Droid 2 Global to a Thunderbolt and I didn't have to call to have the discount reinstated.

i gust called to try to add a line to this plan. no go ,but she did tell me they have a promo for the next two days that will give you $10 off each line for 12 months. might be worth it for someone who missed out. she also confermed that original promo will never expire.

I just upgraded from a 3g to a 4g device back on the 10th of this month so I just called the rep and asked if the promo was removed and she return no that it is still in effect

If you're on the offer on the OP of this thread, then there is no expiration date. But they may have been talking about the Friends & Family part of the promo. Accepting this promo extended the contract for a year, and perhaps they were talking about when that ends?

This deal is definitely dead. It is for 20 dollars off data forever, including 4g.

Just as anuraji said it IS true. You are gettign a new form of promo and getting simply $10 off where as the rest of us all got $20 off each data line bringing the total cost of data for us to $10 a month with no end date either. So now that we will be grandfathered in I get 3G and 4G for all of $10 a line for the wife and I
