Yes since the promo discount was only for the 2 smartphones on the account. So for them to upgrade they woudl have to select one of the new capped data plans.

Sorry to bump such an old thread.

I'm on a plan with my family (Droid 2, Incredible, Chocolate Touch, Chocolate Touch) and we are paying $160 with this unlimited deal. If my parents want to upgrade to a smartphone, would they still have to pay an extra $30 each still?

I just recently upgraded my mom from an envy 3 to a droid and nothing changed since all 5 of my lines had the unlimited deal already. Call and ask. I never call the regular line. I call the Loyalty line 877-628-8922.

I have been going over my minutes by like 5 every month recently because my buddy is on at&t and so I called and asked if I could get friends and family for 1 number cuz im not going to upgrade to 900 minutes... its not worth it. And they said they had a promo going on it and hooked me up. Waiting for the confirmation email about the changes in my account but ya id call and ask

Haha... Same here. I refuse to go up to 900min plan, and I'm constantly monitoring my minutes. I'll give them a call. Thanks for the info!

I called Verizon and actually got TWO sweet deals. When I first called the customer service rep basically says, "Sorry sir. There is no such promotion. However, I can offer you a special promotion called "Renewal 500 minutes" at no extra charge. Long story short, it's not alot, but it basically means I get a pool of 500 extra minutes for the next year to draw from...should I ever go over the 450 minutes. If I use 950 minutes in one month, for example, the pool of minutes is gone. However, if I use...say...470 minutes in one month, then 20 minutes will be taken out of my pool and I will be left with 480 minutes in the pool. This will go on for a year...regardless of whether I have 5min or 500min left in the pool at the end of one year.


I hung up with the first lady feeling kind of disappointed about not getting Friends and Family. But, I logged on to MyVerizon about 30 minutes later, went to the "Manage my Friends and Family" section, and saw a message that read something like, "Your line may qualify for 5 Friends and Family...Please call..." Soooo, long story short, I called this 1-800 number, and sure enough, I was ableto get 5 Friends & Family (on my 450 min plan)! The "catch" is that my contract gets extended for one year, BUT the one year starts today, and I just so happen to be smack in the middle of my two year contract! Sooo, my "New Every Two" dat doesn't change, and neither does my two year end date!!

Ya I have gotten the 500 minute thing but they expire after either 3 or 6 months.

And have you gotten a confirmation email/ able to add the numbers to friends and family? I also forgot to mention the 1 year contract extension thing... but I too am in the middle of my two year contract so im not affected

The Rep told me the 500min thing lasts for the next year and it already shows on MyVerizon. I didn't get an e-mail (yet) for the F&F but it also already shows on my account, and I've already added the five numbers.

If you have been paying for your main line plan plus the $20 per extra line, including on the dumb phones, you should be able to get them to add the smart phone for the same price. I had 4 smart phones and 1 feature phone on one plan with this deal. I recently replaced the LG feature for one of those palm pixi's from amazon and they said the machine on there end auto dumped the unlimited and tried to tack on the 2g in its place. They were able to just put it back with a few clicks and all is well. Just remember to keep your head about you and play nice with the employees and you usually will get your way. dancedroid

My new every two's been up for a couple months now, and I'm finally thinking about getting something better. Do I have to go through the number listed with this promotion to upgrade phones as well, or can I somehow use the web, or verizon store, or best buy? When I click upgrade on the website, it takes me to a place to choose what plan (which obviously doesn't include this promo)

I've got unlimited everything except minutes I have 1200 shared plus f+f been on this plan since my first Droid I only use about 200 min anyways so it doesn't matter.

Best thing is to call verizon or go to a verizon store and have them make sure the unlimited plan stays on the line. Calling them is probably safer. Or if you order one from amazon or best buy, make sure to call verizon and make sure the store did not screw it up. I know when I tried to turn on a palm pixi the verizon B&M store said the computer would not let them keep the unlimited plan on their machine. So I just called in the next day and there was no issue.
