New Unlimited Plan from Big Red?

how did it double your minutes? what where you on before?

Before I had only 700 minutes but with two smartphones we were paying 159.99 per month before taxes.

how much did the rep tell you the $139 plan would be including taxes? the rep i talked to told me it be around $160 for the new plan.

im currently on 700 minutes and 2 phones, my bill is 151 a month.

As stated previous, my bill was 159.99 before taxes with 700 minutes (99.99 per month) and both me and my wife have unlimited data (60.00 per month) with taxes our bill was about 185.00. So like I said we saved about 20.00 per month and we're getting 1400 minutes now.

I used to be on a older plan for 700 mins for 59.99 a month that was a promotional as well, it ended and for several years I kept that plan. The same with this one, its promotional, it DOES NOT expire or go away once you have it, its yours forever or until you change plans. This was confirmed as well talking to the rep when I changed my plan over to the new one.

It's odd now at this point of the thread that people hare bringing up the length of the offered plan. I've been with Verizon got almost 10 years. Even plans that were no longer offered were always grandfathered.

Verizon is a phone company, not a bank where they draw you in at a low interest rate and then jack the price up on you later. I believe every person who said a rep told them it was "for a year," or "temporary" did tell you that because that is the best information they have available at this time And I think some of them pull it out of their behinds to cover said area of the human anatomy. (That's called keeping it family friendly);)

It just makes sense that you have to be competitive price wise and they are in competition with Sprint on this and I believe others will follow as well.

Everyone a few months ago was predicting the demise of free data. That was not only erroneous, quite the contrary we are getting better deals then ever. I suspect prices will come down even more in the future.

I just tried 2 different times, and the reps at this number for the flier are not offering it, or being assisting with getting this rate for anyone that did NOT receive the e-mail/mailer. So they are either getting negative feedback from management, or they are just being stupid about letting existing customers get it. Reinforces why I'm seriously looking at other carriers. Especially given the issues I've had with the service & hardware I've had to this point.

I have a smartphone(DROID) & my GF just has a regular phone(LG CHOCOLATE) for right now. Her phone doesn't require a data plan. Were currently on the 700 NW TALK & TEXT FS PLAN. I currently pay $90 amonth for the minutes, $29.99 for my data & $9.99 for her line. With taxes and everything, I pay $151 a month.

I called the rep about the 1400min $139 plan, she had no problem doing it, she actually encouraged it! The thing is, we were talking about the price, I asked if I would save money, she said it would be around $160 a month. That's $10 or more on top of what I'm already paying now? I don't know if that's correct price or she just guesstimated? I'm not trying to complain, I just need to know for sure how much its going to be a month. If it's going to stay at $151-155, where I'm at now, I'll switch to the new plan, but if not is it still worth it? I'm trying to save money, not spend an extra $10-15 a month.

So I'm guessing the only way I would benefit from this plan is if my girlfriend got a smartphone, I wouldn't have to pay for her data plan? Yet again, the rep said I'd be getting 700 extra minutes, 10 family/friends and unlimited data for both phones so why not do it? Even if my GF doesn't have a smartphone yet, down the road the rep said this plan would be useful. I would just have to pay "$10" extra on my bill.

The fact that only one of you has data is the difference as to why I'm saving money and you wouldn't. But if you were thinking about getting your GF a smartphone this plan would be great for you, plus the added benefit of doubling your minutes and getting friends & family.

I've had one bad experience with Verizon in almost 10 years and that was with a tower issue that they wrote a ticket on. I got promises of updated emails, the tech would call me directly. None of that happened, but within the 4 business day window that they mentioned my signal issue was repaired.

Now as far as technical support, yes, they can be a bit better with that but it's hard to fault the CSR techs when they have so many to deal with. On this Forum we concentrate exclusively on Droids/Android phones so we probably know more then they do.

Just called very very nice lady helped me. I had $89.99 unlimited talk and text with $29.99 for Dinc data for $120.00 p/m now down to $100.00

My Family is on the 1400 share need to talk to my mother in law getting a new phone. Hers is so old it doesn't get any form of data so can't get discount for those six line till she upgrades. All or none.

Had you gotten the email? They seem to be checking a database of who got it.

Yea, I tried one last time, getting no love in the slightest. There's a database or something they are checking against your number to see if you were offered the promotion. Seems that they got overrun with people just calling for it and now they are being sticklers for it. Those who got it without the mailing/e-mail, great job for being prompt and jumping on this asap. Looks like those of us that are a couple days late, we'll just being left out in the cold with no love from Big Red.

It's not a PLAN, it's a PROMOTION and the discount will go away in a year. That was my understanding going in to the deal, that's what I discussed with the rep when I signed up...
The Verizon Rep I spoke with told me very explicitly that Verizon Wireless was testing this new rate plan with the idea to possibly offer it permanently...after a one year trial period...

In any case, I feel pretty lucky. I've had my Droid 1 for a little under a year. I hit the one year mark on November 15th. I was genuinely confused about whether I was eligible for the promotion, told the rep I did not receive an e-mail, but saw it on a phone forum website, and she still offered it to me. I did not get friends and family, but all in all, I was able to get nearly $30 dollars shaved off my monthly bill. I was also lucky enough to get the Droid Pro for $129.00! I simply asked the Verizon rep if she could possibly sell me the phone at the two year price. She says, "Let me check" and puts me on hold. When she came back online she tells me, "Yes. The 2-year price is $279.00. We can give you an instant $50 off the phone + a $100 dollar mail in rebate, which brings the price down to $129.00. And, you don't have to pay anything right now. We'll simply add the charges onto your next monthly phone bill." Needless to say I was pumped! Oh, incidentally, she pre-ordered the phone for me the day before pre-orders officially began. Also, I don't know how it works for some of you all. However, the rep also told me this one year 'trial' does not extend my initial 2-year contract to a third year. Rather, the second year of my old plan simply converts to this new rate plan. Soooo, according to the Verizon Rep, I will still be eligible to buy another new phone a year from now, if I so choose. I didn't read all the posts here, but from what I did read, it sounds like it was simply random as to what kind of response people get/got when they called.

im currently on a 1 year contract, 700 minute family plan (2 phones). my contract is up on 2/11. if i switch to the $139 family plan, your saying my contract wouldnt extend a extra year?

yea it's weird. if i switch to the 139 plan now, with me having a smartphone and my girlfriend not, i wouldn't save any money. if i do get her a smartphone i would end up saving money.

unlimited plan charged to all phones?

For those of you lucky enough to be able to take advantage of this screaming deal. Do you have to put the data plan on all your phones, or can you still pay the data (less the discount) on say 2 or 3 phones on a 5 phone family plan??

Thanks for any info. If that's the case, I'm going to call and see if I qualify!

I called earlier this morning and every phone on your plan would have to pay the 20.00 for data even if they didnt have a smart phone. So add 10.00 to every line that doesnt have a smart phone already.

Oh, I have no idea. I was only sharing my individual experience. I'm on an individual plan, in the middle of a two-year contract. I was on the 900 minute plan with 5 'friends & family'. With this promotion I get 450 minutes, no friends and family, and, according to the Verizon Rep, still qualify for the "New Every Two" program a year from now. Oh, did I mention that I got the Droid Pro for $129.00?? Yesssssssssss!!!!!

I have a DX and my wife has a D2 plus 2 dumb phones for the kids.
I pay 90/mo for 700 minutes on a family share plan. (employer discount)
2 Data plans at 60/mo
20/mo for the 2 dumb phones
Thats 170/mo before ins and tax

If I switch to this plan im looking at...
140.00 for two phones (mine and my wifes)
20/mo each for my additional phones. Thats 40.00
Comes to 180.00 so essential 10/mo for and extra 700 minutes and the ability to add a smart phone to the other lines w/o worry. Which works for me because Im about to give my son my D1.
