Basically, they "rooted" their phone to get access to make edits to the software powering the phone (it's a risky unsanctioned process, but there are TONS of threads that explain it step by step). Rooting allows people to do things like overclock their phone so that it runs faster, or otherwise customize how it operates. Many people have been running a fuller 2.1 experience than the upcoming official update seems to be offering.
Anyway, unrooting basically means undoing the process and returning the phone to "normal."
That's my understanding, anyway! I'm sure that someone will correct me if I'm wrong!
If you rooted, you will probably have to unroot. But if your asking if your rooted, you probably don't have to worry. As you would know if you have root acces.
ok i am sure this has been asked....I have downloaded the sholesmod updater and I am rooted and running their rom.....will i get the update ota or will i have to manually update....i have not blocked ota updates either...
