so this 2.1 release won't have the new app screen, live wallpapers, 5 screens......?

It better have 5 screens and the new app tray!!!!! Live wallpapers I can survive without.

Now does any here REALLY KNOW what this update will include?? I think all we have here is speculation. No one has facts.

I don't think this has been posted yet but it's a good sign of things to come.
Some Good News, and Some Bad News, About Adobe Flash 10.1 - Adobe flash 10.1 - Gizmodo
Flash absolutely WON'T be included with the current 2.1 update. Adobe says that flash is coming but it will require 2.1 when it's ready to be released due to the access 2.1 provides. And it could be released by Verizon, Moto, or Adobe....no one knows.

As for another "rumor" The Nexus 1 is definitely coming to Verizon as it says on the Nexus 1 order page. As a second part to the rumor, a rooted OCed droid will squash the Nexus 1 any day of the week.

And to squash another

I for one won't be upgrading. Until I can put Flash on either as a download from Adobe or a ROM update...no point. What does 2.1 offer that I don't already have besides Flash that makes it worth losing different ports from the Milestone, the ability to overclock, the ability to monitor real time temps, the ability to take a screenshot without having to use a home replacement app, etc etc?

Nothing.
I will upgrade... That is why im making a nandroid backup tonight so if i do lose anything that I use then i can just do a recovery :icon_ banana:

That sounds like a good idea.. nandroid it i will.. uhmm.. anyone think they'll include flash in this update? or most likely not... i mean it's possible right? maybe thats why it was delayed? or maybe im just a noob with high hopes

I guess there is a very small chance that it could be in this update but it is very very unlikely. Adobe has stated that when flash is ready, it will require 2.1 though.

I am still up in the air about unrooting....it took me forever to finally do it and now i am loving it. I just kinda want to have the "official" 2.1 and see how that runs. Then re root if its not worth it....

... This 2.1 update prolly wont change much but i would really like to know what fixes are in it

Google publishes a changelog to the Android developers, so this info should be easy to find once the upgrade is officially released. It might be Moto that has the job of doing that for the Droid though, so it depends on where you look. One caveat about Linux related changelogs... You'll be doing a lot of skimming 'cause they're usually very long and hard to read ;-) .

Im definitely right there with you. Im on the fence about running it. I would like to see what is different. And I didnt have that many issues with the stock 2.0.1 except the 3 screens. Im at the point now where 5 may not be enough.

ok i am sure this has been asked....I have downloaded the sholesmod updater and I am rooted and running their rom.....will i get the update ota or will i have to manually update....i have not blocked ota updates either...

If you used the sholes app I believe you are blocked from OTA updates by default, as it uses sprecovery which doesn't allow update.zip installations unless you unlock it from the restore screen.

ok guys...let me post a fair warning. This forum does not tolerate flaming or bashing. No name calling etc. etc. Next one i warn will get a short vacation

If people with rooted droids can run 2.1 like that on the Nexus why would they not give droids the same nexus 2.1 update?

Well the 2.1 ROMS (in my experience) are laggy and buggy. The live wallpapers slowed the phone down a lot and the new app drawer did not work correctly in landscape mode.

What exactly are you putting on your screens? I'm getting by with just 3 and like the fact that I can drop a folder on each one and throw things in that. I don't mind cluttered screens (you should see my desktop), but I love my background image (android peeing on the Apple), so I like to show that off with my iPhone friends :)
