once again.....the ota update will most probably break root

Huh? Are you saying that if you are rooted that this will unroot your Droid?

I'm probably misunderstanding you so please don't come over and give me the b**ch slap across my face.:icon_ devil:

Yes downloading the update to 2.1 you will lose your root access. Though keep in mind 2.1 was rooted before it was released on the N1

Oh, I know that. I thought she was saying that if you were rooted the update would unroot you. I'd never heard that, quite the opposite that if you were rooted you wouldn't get the update. Sorry for the confusion.

Why cant you people just turn off auto rotate? My phone does not rotate unless I deploy the keyboard. How hard is it to turn if off?? Am I missing something??
Im running the bugless beauty 7.2 "rom" and even if you turn off auto rotate in the settings it still stays on. The way you have it is the way we want it but when we asked the dev. they disabled turning it off since everyone wanted it on.

what will the new version bring to the phone.....better battery life maybe.....

The last update brought the phone better battery life, believe it or not.;)

These smart phones simply draw a huge amount of power from the battery. I saw the same thing with both of my Blackberry Storms. And the Blackberry Storm 2 used more battery life then the Blackberry Storm 1. It seems to me it's not the phones that are the issue, it's getting the battery manufacturers to develop better batteries to handle these phones.

I hope all Motorola Droid users understand that android 2.1 may not run as on the Nexus 1. The ssmartphones have different logic boards and supports chips etc. I run Windows on my Mac. Windows run well on my Mac but there are some features of the Mac that will not be implemented due to the Mac's hardware. An OS must be optimizeed for the system and systems, handsets are not all alike.

I'm not sure why everyone complains about battery life. I had my phone unplugged for 14 hours yesterday and listened to music on pandora for about 6-7 hours and spent the rest texting and chatting on google talk. By the time i finally plugged my phone in at 10:00PM i still had 40% battery

Running bugless beauty 7.2 950MHz but sleeping i have it set to 250MHz

I think you meant to say that there are some features of Windows that won't be implemented due to Macs Hardware.

That in itself is debatable but we are not here to discuss that. Good analogy however. My hope is that they have optimized 2.1 as much as possible for Droids hardware.

Im going to wait till i start to hear about others getting the update. Then read feedback and decide if i want the update before unrooting

Well, unlike most, I see this as good news.
I guess I'm a virgin to smartphones being that this is my 1st one but I've never gotten ANY updates on ANY other phone. Now I'm about to receive my 2nd update on the Droid. Life's back to normal for me, I mean after it was flipped upside down in an alternate universe yesterday when the Colts lost...
But I'm happy again :icon_ banana:

im with u my damn windows mobile omnia never got any updates so with this ill take whatever i get and not piss and moan about what i dont get. some people are gonna have to start carrying multiple phone just to be happy and even then we will still hear complaining

I had an Omnia and i most certainly did get the CF03 update which allowed the cooks to create the awesome WINMO 6.5 roms...

Most omnias were sold after the CF03 update so most never did get an update. But im with you. That thing was a PIA to use so we HAD to cook roms for it so we could use it. Same thing with the imagio. Winmo needs the get their S**T together and work on mem management like android has!!! This 2.1 update prolly wont change much but i would really like to know what fixes are in it
