I hope it is improved. This is the one place where iPhone people at work have been able to best me. They recently got some sort of speech-to-text app (Dragon or something). When they use that and I use the text-to-speech in Handcent the iPhone does a much better job of converting the speech to text. The Droid is iffy at best.

I don't know if this is going to help you or not but the last time they did OTA releases they did them slowly to start then in about a week they were launching to everyone. I don't expect us all to get it at the same time.

It's gonna be that way again for this one. Maybe 20k people at first. Then a dealy then a restart for the rest. So even IF it actually rolls tonight. It could be up to a week to get it. Now someone may find the zip for us and we can all do it manually

Maybe we have different needs with out phones, but when i looked into rooting i did not see much that was useful to me. What is everybody rooting for, what are the perks?

Well you can overclock it which is awesome. I had the sholesmod thing with the smoked glass theme and that was awesome looking. I don't know why i unrooterd i just wanted the official 2.1.....if im one of the last people to get the update and i hear bad things about 2.1 ill quickly reroot

It will also be done in the same order as last time so if you were one of the ones that got it first then you will get it again first if you were one of the ones who had to wait a bit then prepare to wait. Most likely the release date is Friday just seems like the normal day they send updates out.

Don't hold your breath the norm they seem to stick to is Friday so I will bet you will see it Friday not today.
I'm with you guys. I'm staying rooted. I'll wait until Dave or the Sholes team gives us a 2.1 rom. I've already got almost everything 2.1 offers, and I've got my own theming, overclocking, and total freedom to boot. I'm not sure what I would gain by updating to 2.1, but I would lose a lot.
