****Official FroYo Rollout Thread-Version2!****

okay now i am freaking out.

i was the third post on this thread and stated that i am stuck on the "M" logo.

it did not change all day. this is the first time i was able to get to a computer.

my phone is still stuck.

what the H - E - DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS do i do now?

my phone actually shut off today because it ran out of power. hooked it back up and still the Moto logo on my phone.

So my apologies in advance if this is dumb, but is it ok to install the 76.9 MB file or should I just wait for the OTA update? What will the difference really be?

Do a battery pull. Put it right back in and see what happens.

Bettenorf Iowa OTA Received this morning 8/11

Seems to work well, but not certain what all was supposed to be different.

No problems though...

I'm in NC. Got it this morning and wish I hadn't.

Are you running any task killers or antivirus? This is an extremely wonderful update, if you're having issues more then likely it's caused by an app. Consider doing a factory data reset out of your privacy section and see if that doesn't improve your performance.

Nope don't run a task killer or anything. I have exactly 4 apps installed that didn't come with the phone. Swype (which is now broken), NFL app, pandora (which oddly enough works fine) and a solitare game. That's it.

what's the deal with swype? does beta support froyo? i'm not sure i can bear the better 2.2 world without my swype.

I've heard it's the same but who knows.

We are talking about it here....

I am not rooted though. Do you have to be rooted to update manually?

No. The instructions for manually updating are in the original Official FroYo Rollout thread: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-general-discussions/66044-official-froyo-rollout-thread.html

Yes swype does work for 2.2. As soon as you get the OTA you will have to uninstall swype and then reinstall it in order for it to work

Delete SWYPE (NOT INSTALLER) and re-d/l it. Covered in the follow-up post to OP this thread. :)
edit: jinxed w/ TopSnake!

Flame suit on... I am getting the "no such file" error when I try to install update.zip which I put right into the main directory on my phone. I tried a few searches on what I am doing wrong, no luck.

Use a file manager (eg. Astro) to nav to SD root, and verify it's a compressed file, named update.zip.

I'm in an extended area with spotty cell service. It is on wifi. I'm guessing I won't get it until I go into a 3g area? Thanks.

Awesome, thanks. I verified that I didn't rename is .zip.zip on the computer but I guess it was anyhow.

hook, i hate to correct you, but it appears the animated icons and the red animation in your signature are not flash, but rather .gif files

m.flash.com should be working if flash is really enabled

They never moved until I put Flash in my Droid. If you can see the ads moving up above the top of the threads that's Flash as well. And it's OK to correct me. :)

This may not be that important, but on my PC I have Flashblocker on Firefox. Any site with Flash won't work until I hit the "F" in the center of the Flash area.

I'm mentioning this because I see Hookbill's red line and the dancing bananas on my PC.
